Retiring a 16-18 year old computer from my parents' house that saw daily use and many upgrades/fixes through the years. The caps on the motherboard finally burst. Going to build a new one for them. The computer before this lasted a decade. Hopefully the next will last as long or longer as these two.
Just added a bunch of political/social filters in #mastodon. If they work like the UI seems to indicate they do, I'll be doing a lot less blocking/muting moving forward.
I've heard enough chatter in recent history that `pushd` and `popd` are essentially to be used exclusively in scripts. i use the hell out of both of them as well as `dirs`. i am a meat script.
Near miss with a tornado tonight (everybody's safe) and my phone battery was at 30% and I have no idea the state of my VHF/UHF #radio equipment. I have been slacking on my preparedness in the last few years. Guess it's time to check comms and supplies.
Taking a minute to appreciate how damn resilient my services/servers in the house are at the moment. They're all deployed slipshod and manually, too. Despite some annoyances, we've come a long way with software.
Up probably too late thanks to the vidya games but I got to play with some friends I haven't played with in a while. Had fun. Good #tzaf, #fediverse! Have a quality day/evening!
