@PCMag With the API that used to be free I used to be able to use an app like Plume to access the #birdsite. I also had some scripts that occasionally posted some useful information. Now the API itself costs money to use and not seeing ads on the official app / on the web is hugely expensive. And the platform is open to people formerly banned.

@goatsarah I have too many old Pentax manual focus lenses. Some are just delicious in full frame, like M 85mm f2, K 50mm F1. 2 that aren't so usable with a smaller sensor, even though I have the adaptors.

The TTArtisan stuff is fun, just take care with the focus markings. In my experience ∞ isn't ∞.

@goatsarah Quite. I have an XE-3. A very good tool, indeed. But that 'industrial' vibe of the Nikon F5, the Canon P, 🤤. The new Fujifilm and those old 35mm place you in charge of the light, the focus, the moment, the composition (of course),…

The only other analogy I can make is with woodworking tools. The old British Record planes had the right weight, the right feel, quality for several generations…

Having said that Fujifilm has made awesome cameras that take this on board. The X100, X Pro and X E series are a joy to use.

The question whether a film camera is worth applying some hack to make it digital is coming up again recently.

My old Nikon F5, Canon P, Rollei 35, Pentax KX — all beautifully crafted tools *that still work*. No Lithium battery degradation, no end-of-OS-update life, no zero day vulnerabilities. They. Just. Work. And beautifully.

I would LOVE a good "digital 35mm cassette".

Neither BBC News nor any other British broadcast media gave any coverage of the HUGE Rejoin EU demonstration in London yesterday. This is a combination of state editorial control (BBC bosses are Tory party donors), media mogul control (more Tory party donors) and news being an advertising business, not a public service.

Ironically we have to leave it to France state news channel to report on it.
