@aral @Codeberg he is a bloody idiot. He doesn’t even know what #AI is! He means #LLM. LLM generates buggy code and often doesn’t even compile. Often it is not portable. It is non deterministic. That alone should say everything. The AI craze is the tech Frankenstein and it’s a giant scam. I wouldn’t worry about what someone who clearly doesn’t know what he’s talking about let alone his arse from his elbow is talking about. AI my arse.

@aral @Codeberg and someone should start a list of all the broken code LLM has generated and link back to his post. Maybe I should. Just a matter of finding the time. He doesn’t have a bloody clue. It’s just noise from a person who clearly doesn’t know much about programming if he knows anything about it at all.

@Infoseepage @piggo @georgetakei ouch. At first I was thinking: okay lots of other types of medical buildings have MRIs but then I see the rest of your comment. I can’t see the pictures well because I have my distance glasses on (I need my reading glasses for this) but if it’s not even a medical building then perhaps they have even worse problems and they should be investigated. Perhaps not following protocol is only one of other kinds of negligence.

@Infoseepage @piggo @georgetakei short staffed is an interesting thought too. That could certainly be a problem. (Just saw your thought there.)
But better go. It’s not easy reading without my reading glasses and it’s better to not speculate. Something unusual happened here and hopefully it is looked into so it doesn’t happen again.
Best wishes!

@Infoseepage @georgetakei yup. It’s like someone walking into a room with an Xray on. Unless the staff LET him in they did nothing wrong. Reminds me of a teenager who got electrocuted trying to steal copper more than once. He eventually died from it. They have warning signs for a reason. If someone REALLY wants to do what he did there’s only so much that can be done. The difference here is this guy was trying to help. Love causes death too sometimes.

@evacide on the subject of dealing with issues, for instance internal demons: as a child I learnt in therapy that one should pick the easiest thing to take care of first. Doing this will make the next easiest thing slightly easier even if it’s hard.
Another thing I learnt is to always be kind to yourself. Always take care of yourself. If you can’t take care of yourself you can’t take care of others.
These are things that I have had to do since I was a child and I am almost 43.

@alexthecat @atoponce like this for example ? I don’t know if it’s true but I have zero problem believing it sadly. I have even seen two sets of calculators get different results in a very simple calculation and one of them was wrong. Well obviously one was wrong but you know what I mean.

@andreeafont @HistoPol @archaeohistories victims in sight of the gas chambers (German Gaskammern) didn't believe it. Or some didn't. They had flowers there and along with the unbelievability of it and mass deception - can you blame them? Some even saw in themselves in their captors and that disturbed them very much. 0/n

@andreeafont @HistoPol @archaeohistories So the question is how do you reconcile with all this? We could all be the worst sadists in different situations. We can only hope that we would be better. That is an unfortunate fact of the human species. But because I can accept these things I can more easily fully appreciate the horrors. Unfortunately some things in this world require discomfort in order to understand and often those are most in need of understanding! Animal abuse is one such thing.

@andreeafont @HistoPol @archaeohistories you might be surprised what people can be capable of when it’s a matter of life and death.
One Jewish doctor inmate actually collaborated with the SS doctors. Others went out of their way to try and save lives.
Will follow with more …

@andreeafont @HistoPol @archaeohistories I am sorry I had to.
I am a Second World War and NSDAP buff so I know a great deal about that time but I happen to know about some others too.
A German friend is frequently amazed how much I know but it takes sifting through things due to so many lies on all sides. But it’s not just in war!
I think it was a monkey that was sent to space in a rocket. But some animal or maybe animals have been.

@HistoPol @archaeohistories @andreeafont it is definitely horrible.
That is sadly a very human trait.
You know. People think they are superior to everything else. A species that is truly superior would treat everything as equal. I don’t see humanity doing that.
Certainly many people do but on a whole it’s just not going to happen. It’s a terrible tragedy.
I do not know how it is nowadays but I seriously doubt that it is any better.

@HistoPol @archaeohistories @andreeafont I am afraid that yes there is.
Look up Project Pigeon. People have used animals in war for years. There’s the famous baboon Jackie. The bear Wojtek (First, Second World War respectively). Americans trained dogs to try and sniff out Japanese blood. That was on Cat Island.
UK dropped pamphlets telling citizens it would be inhumane to have pets. Many were killed because of it.

@HistoPol @archaeohistories @andreeafont there’s an entire book about animals in the Second World War. I have over 40 books on it last I counted and I have added since then. It’s the only one I couldn’t read. I put it down.
Humans don’t care. Anything to help them win. Doesn’t matter how. Animals are disposable to them.
And think about dogs used to sniff out bombs.
Of course there’s evidence as awful as it is.

@HistoPol @archaeohistories @andreeafont … many Americans offered up their pets for the war effort. At first American officials were sceptical. Sadly it changed.
When I got to the point where they were offering up pets I couldn’t take it any longer. I was already disgusted by it all.
I feared it when I got the book but I decided to give it a go.
It wasn’t something I could do.
