I accidentally scared off Our Lady of Sitting this morning, and it seemed like a bad omen, so I put out more seed for her. She not only returned but chased off the two little brown jobs eating seed with her. Defend your right to sit today, everyone.

1. A cardinal is raising her crest and tail menacingly in the direction of a little speckled brown bird, sparrow like, that is within a foot of her. With a sunflower seed in her break and round black eye catching the sun, she looks a little deranged. She is balancing on her right foot, and the stump of her left leg is visible. She is an orange-beige bird with bright red-orange wings, tails, crest, and beak. Her beak is catching the sun and particularly shiny.
