Electoralism, Catastrophe and the Learned Helplessness of American Liberalism
"The fact that so many Democrats believe that there was nothing more US officials could have done to prevent a meaningful share of the 700,000+ covid deaths on Biden’s watch says a lot about Biden’s role in a meaningful share of those 700,000+ covid deaths" https://x.com/wsbgnl/status/1811407849140158571
If you take Trump out of the equation, humanity remains urgently imperiled. And the US government is an active participant in intensifying that increasingly grave precarity.
So if Democrats do not present as a solution to this crisis, then what are we talking about?
@gwynnion do they ever even bring up the Child Tax Credit any more? That was like the single greatest policy of the last half century and I feel like it's gone AWOL from the conversation.
Hey yo, The Lancet article isn't claiming that 180,000 Palestinians are currently dead, although that could very well be the case. It's saying that based on the available data, we can (conservatively) expect 180k+ deaths in the coming weeks, months and years that can be traced to "Israel's" ongoing genocidal onslaught.
It really cannot be overstated how absolutely disgusting it is that Gavin Newsom looked at the composition of the Supreme Court and said, "Here's my opportunity to legally terrorize the growing unhoused population in California."
If America is entering its "Fascist Phase" then many of the Democratic Party's brightest stars are welcoming it with open arms.
If the forthcoming election were that consequential, then I would expect the Democratic Party to expand their base at all costs, even modifying national policies to entreat disenchanted voters in say, idk, both Muslim, Arab and Black communities to shore up vital swing states.
Or they can keep doing genocide.
But if it's the latter, then don't act like they didn't welcome this outcome because they fought tooth and nail for it.
What's wrong with Biden's brain isn't that he's unable to eloquently cite facts and statistics during political debates...
It's that he thinks Palestinians are undeserving of life and dignity and believes it's Israel's inherent right to colonize and brutalize at will and that his primary function is to support the Zionist cause at all costs.
If the biggest fight in your life right now is on behalf of Joe Biden, the architect and patron saint of Palestinian genocide, then you're really not the good person you claim to be. In fact, it's demonstrably the opposite of how you would like it to be.
@QasimRashid ""This decision by the Supreme Court will help cities like San Francisco manage our public spaces more effectively and efficiently," [SF mayor London Breed] said"
@QasimRashid If this is fascism, then Democrats should probably consider whether fascism is welcome within their ranks or if it's high time for a purge, no?
The Biden WH hosting an event on sexual violence committed by Hamas, the central claim of which rests not upon the testimony of victims, medical reports or footage of the alleged acts, but a forced confession from a Palestinian man who has clearly been tortured by Israeli authorities, puts a real fine point on the argument that anyone associated with the Iraq War should be a permanent political leper.
That the United States is accusing anyone of acting "unilaterally" is the most fatuous posture imaginable.
The Veto Cowboys at the UN, the scourge of international democratic controls, wielder of the oppressive economic embargo and global leader in attributable deaths per annum has thoughts on collaboration and peace. Got it.
Speak easy or not at allWe are called to speak for the weak, for the voiceless, for the victims of our nation and for those it calls ‘enemy,’ for no document from human hands can make these humans any less our brothers. To be rich should be a crime.he/himprofile pic: a green background with the text "Where's shebeen?" in blackheader image: a headline from a legacy outlet which states "Taliban plans to turn former bases into special economic zones"
