Reminder that Antony Blinken ignored the guidance of his own department indicating Israel was committing war crimes, allowing Joe Biden to continue violating the Leahy Law by executing daily weapons transfers to Israel as they conducted a genocide.

I'm grateful to Sarah Hurwitz. Instead of validating the fictional (and racist) premise of "lawlessness in American cities" every chance they got, Democrats could have forged another path. At least in that scenario, they'd have an argument they could make against Trump instead of looking like incompetent backpeddlers running away from everything they've argued since the 1980's.

People keep telling me "elections have consequences" but they never apply this pithy observation to the discourse that occurs during elections - i.e. when Democrats abandon all sense of responsibility and chase Republican voters down 4chan rabbit holes into the dregs of protofascist presumptuousness. This reckless political maneuvering establishes the very parameters for future policy debates and makes it much harder to break free from these self-imposed restrictions.

And here we are.

Being forced into a position where you're basically arguing that "This is too much law enforcement" just doesn't present like Dems are bargaining from a position of power, especially considering its legibility to constituents.

Voters might all know it's wrong and chaotic and fucked up, but what is the policy takeaway? Where do you go from here? And how do you formulate the argument for mid-term campaign trails?

Finally, a reminder that there is a very strong case to be made that the energy and clarity of conscience that were delivered by the George Floyd and Breonna Taylor uprisings were what hoisted Joe Biden into the White House over Trump. The battle lines were clear, the stakes were existential.

And then Dems retreated to their donors, attacked "defunding the police", elevated Eric fucking Adams to the national spotlight and the morality of the matter got a lot murkier thereafter.

Whoops.

Yeah we should definitely allow the English to be involved in stewarding Palestine into a new era.

If there is a "Matrix" it's called White Supremacy. If you're supporting actors within this paradigm whose primary interests are in preserving or maintaining it at all costs, then they are White Supremacists and the question becomes: what does that make you?

This is why you keep seeing terrible outcomes that strictly benefit White Supremacy.

Perhaps consider that this paradigm needs to be destroyed and that you shepherding in the scions of this system every chance you get is how we got here.

It's almost like accusations of antisemitism and other Zionist talking points comprise the propaganda wing of genocide and that speech isn't necessarily just the simple expression of deeply held political belief systems so much as weapons deployed in support of violent, dispossessive systems.

For most Liberals finally gaining an understanding of the depths of this Western-orchestrated atrocity, after 600+ days of genocide, it seems to be nothing more than a source of embarrassment. No feelings of guilt or a newfound commitment to anti-colonialism - both essential to any kind of coalition-building accord.

If you're going to remain a toady for empire, still viewing Western colonial hegemony as a prerequisite for progress, then we remain adversaries because you remain a villain.

Consider what it took for the New York Times to hire such a racist creep. And then ask yourself, what is it about the New York Times' worldview that might lead them to think that a racist creep such as this could somehow add value to their product? And then think about their coverage of the genocide since October of 2023...

It's been 20+ years since, out of an abundance of Islamophobia, the Patriot Act was passed by US Congress and the lessons are now more than obvious -

The Wars, ICE, perma-surveillance, mass displacement, the refugee crisis, taking your bloody shoes off at the airport and proliferated Arabophobia have all been catastrophic.

But here we are once again with ICE unchained, the West Asian war path forged anew, Islamic panic running rampant and both parties fighting for white supremacist supremacy.

Man, the Biden administration wasted so much energy trying to demonstrate just how woke and open-minded they were by pretending like the superficial representation of historically oppressed groups in the White House somehow directly corresponded with better outcomes and better policy.

And then they just fueled a genocide, supporting the most racist entity since the Reich while reflexively accusing anyone who opposed the atrocity of being terrorist sympathizers.

If only there were a lesson here

Identity Politics aren't necessarily bad. Standpoint epistemology has a role to play in providing perspective. But the lazy weaponization of it that both Biden and the Israeli gov't, and its propaganda organs, deploy as both a sword and shield to further harm a growing list of victims is a really depressing development.

Setting the discourse back decades, greasing the runway for bigotry's ascendance all while pointing to a gay, Black, pro-genocide spokesperson like its a collective achievement.
