@BeAware I get that banning porn across all instances might be unrealistic, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s an industry built on exploitation and harm. Ignoring it just because it’s widespread feels like avoiding the real issue. Filters are a temporary fix, but we should be having conversations about how to reduce the harm it causes, rather than accepting it as a permanent reality.

@BeAware The fact that pornography has existed ever since the internet began doesn’t cancel out the reality that it's often a form of violence and exploitation. Just because something has been around for a long time doesn’t make it less harmful. The prevalence of pornography is tied to deep issues of power, manipulation, and the exploitation of vulnerable people, especially women. ++

@BeAware We can't overlook the fact that a lot of the porn industry thrives on coercion and often profits off people in desperate situations. It perpetuates harmful stereotypes, objectifies individuals, and normalizes damaging behaviors. Just because it’s easily accessible and has become part of the digital world doesn’t mean we should ignore the serious ethical concerns it brings.

Despite being part of the #Fediverse (from what I read today), #Medium is one of the worst platforms out there. Having to pay to read articles is something that deeply irritates me. Similarly, having to use a proprietary DRM like Widevine to watch videos on Netflix, Amazon, Paramount, etc., is frustrating (long live #piracy).
