It sounds like an April-fools joke but the eruption I mentioned as imminent on the 1st of April ended after only six hours. I don't remember any volcanic event that was over so quickly. Though I don't think it is unique in any way.

#GretaThunberg was arrested by #Danish police for protesting #UniversityOfCopenhagen's links with #Israel. I imagine this isn't the sort of publicity the university wanted.

The photo accompanying the news article isn't really flattering to Greta because she is chewing. It did make me happy when I focused in on her hands to see that her snack is very a #Swedish rye crispbread (#Knäckebröd). A sensible choice.

In Iceland we call it hrökkbrauð. I haven't had one in years but it makes me remember breakfast at my grandparents' house when I was little.

When Russia invaded Ukraine the #NordicCountries decided they didn't want Russia to take part in #EuroVision. This year people in #Iceland tried to get a similar stance against #Israel and were told that would be too political and EuroVision isn't political.

I would buy more #BluRays if it wasn't such a hassle to rip them. I don't have a #BluRay player. I have enough things to plug into my TV. I do have a BluRay drive but there is a whole thing you need to do for it to work.

People who do actual #piracy do this all the time. They get a kick out of defeating #DRM. For the rest of us it feels like we are being kicked by DRM for the sole crime of buying #PhysicalMedia.

Have you ever talked to a librarian about the internet? Even back in 2003 when I started my degree in library and information science the internet was a huge part of our training. I was taught by people who were there every step of the way in the development of the internet (except DARPA).

I am slowly realising that #PeerTube is so much cooler than I thought. Actually amazing. For those who make videos and rely on donors and/or selling their own ads it seems almost perfect.

Like so much in this corner the world, #Fediverse, #Linux, etc., the real problem is just convincing people to use all this great stuff.

In this episode I decided to recommend #PodcastAntenna. I also talked about #RSS and the important role it plays in #podcasts.

I think #ContentCreators should help their audience understand their medium and also point them towards better solutions for accessing content.

RSS is the reason why podcasting is the only medium that is wide reaching and distributed. The corporations want to put podcasts in a walled garden. They (e.g. #Spotify) have tried and though they failed they will try again.

I went from writing this to listening to @taylorlorenz talk to @adamconover on #Factually about #SocialMedia. I was a bit disappointed that they didn't use the opportunity to plug their #Mastodon accounts because talking about the alternatives is a big part of changing the internet landscape.

Then I went on to listen to #BehindTheBastards talk about #AaronSwartz. Of course #RSS comes up.

What I think might be the most important single thing in the future of the #Fediverse and #ActivityPub is #WordPress. If they do it well it could be a game changer. It would raise the appeal for creators to have their own sites.

Of course I want WordPress' competitiors to try to outdo them, the important thing is that it would be done outside of the walled gardens.
