New rule:
For every 10 developers you hire, you have to hire 1 developer whose sole job is to remove code. Every single PR they create must be net-negative in terms of lines of code.
Sorry I don't make the rules, all must comply.

Kinda loved this definition of what an "app" is:
A bespoke web browser that only takes you to a very specific website. lol

Gonna pivot to a performance consultant whose only job is to encourage people either 1) remove stuff, or 2) not do stuff at all.
Do you know what’s more performant than JS? No JS.
Do you know what’s more performant than this feature? No feature.
Do you know what’s more performant than _anything_? Nothing.
You can make checks payable to…

I used to think of businesses’ websites as the canonical reference for information about them.
But for a restaurant in my area, the business hours on their website are wrong (I found out by calling them).
But their hours on Google Maps are right.
Do I need to change my mental model?

@manualdousuario @kasparsd idk if I'm convinced that serving human-readable HTML over the wire is helpful…I know it helped me back in the day, but now-a-days we have DevTools and a DOM representation of the HTML which are much more helpful than plain-text.
That said, i used to have a comment in my HTML that pointed to the source code that generated the HTML but that’s been stripped out. i need to add it back…It at least gave folks the ability to see the source code behind the source code.

📝 I got HTML minification setup (yet again) and finally made a note to self on how to do it the inevitable next time.

@kasparsd It seems like it does? For the same HTML page on my deploy preview vs. prod, I was seeing:
No minification:

Remember when people argued about the eco-friendly nature of going digital? “Think of all the trees you’ll save!”
And now our cloud computing + AI needs are making companies look to nuclear lol

If you love fiddling with static site generators and different ways of building simple sites, go give this a try.
I've got origami running on one of my personal sites in prod (soon to be two) and I’m already thinking which will be next...
It has its gotchas. But with more folks trying/using it, it'll only get better and better.
Jan's cooking something cool over there…

Whenever a new tech comes onto the scene, like blockchain or AI, I always think of that scene from jurassic park.
They had just got to the island for the 1st time. And they stop and see their first dinosaur. And everyone is in absolute awe and wonder.
And then it cuts to this guy lol

📝 I messed up with git. But a gist saved me. And its comments section is an oasis in the desert of internet comments.

📝 With the Big Sur-ification of macOS icons, many apps lost an opportunity to explore what their icon could’ve been. Instead they took their logo & plopped it on a white background.
I put together a small collection of visually interesting alternatives.

📝 I got asked, “How can web components render before JS?” So I walked through the idea with a simplified example.

The feeling you first have with git is you’re not smart enough to use it. Then you get older and more experienced and realize you really are not smart enough to use.
Lol I can relate with @eric
