I think this is a specification that allows multilingual users to explicitly select their individual toot language, making it easier to filter for followers who are building timelines with limited languages. (IMO)

.social、先月来オイゲンさんがインフラのアップグレードがんばってるけど、急速な流入だとやはりちょっと追いつかない部分があるのでしばらく重いかもですよね。
日本鯖だとfedibird.comが個人的にはおすすめです。
管理人さんはマストドンプロジェクトのスポンサーでもありソースコードのコラボレーターでもあり、なによりFediverse概念の理解者なので継続性や対応力が高いです。

@noellabo 全文検索、リアルタイム検索は技術的にも負荷も大きいですが、需要はあると思うので、その方法の模索が始まりそうですね。

@noellabo こうして具体的な数字を並べると現実的に可能なように見えます。
話は逸れますが、Twitterにできてマストドンにできない決定的な違いが、つぶやきの串刺し検索だと思いますが、マストドンはサーバー間を跨いだ串刺し検索って可能なんでしたっけ？
全く知識無く感想を述べてます。

Twitterがつぶれて、全部Mastodonに流れてくる……もっと散り散りになるでしょうし、そこまでのことはないと思いますが、そういう想定とします。

そんなこと可能なの？

こういうときは、精緻な計算はいりません。今の何倍のサーバが必要か、ざっくり規模感を理解しておくだけでとりあえずOKでしょう。

Twitterってアクティブ何人いるんでしたっけ？ Botだらけで計測不能？ ああそうでした。まあ3億〜5,000万でみましょうか。

mastodon.socialが10万アクティブで精いっぱいという感じなので、最大限甘く見積もるために、ひとつのサーバで10万まで耐えられるとします。

3億なら3,000サーバ要りますね。

5,000万なら500サーバです。

さあどうしましょうかね。

なお、この話にはオチはありません。
