Trump has folded on tariffs: pulling back in return for the most minimal face-saving "concessions". But the issue comes back in 30 days, by which time neighbours will be better prepared. And he's still promising tariffs for EU and UK.
Quite often, I think about posting something and decide I can't be bothered dealing with the reactions. For example, I'm generally opposed to political violence, revolution as well as war, but I don't say it as often as I should. And, I should admit that I am tempted by the urge for retribution against war ciminals and climate destroyers
Bernie Madoff's simple Ponzi scheme ran for at least as long as Bitcoin has operated, and would have lasted longer if not for the GFC. The market can stay irrational longer than you (or any short-seller) can stay solvent.

Big gap between Goldman Sachs projected 47GW extra demand by 2030, & stated plans Meta 1-4 GW by early 2030s, Google 0.5 GW by 2035, Amazon "aiming for" >5GW by 2039, Microsoft restarting 1 GW at existing TMI plant.

Time to admit it. Trump's dictatorship is a fait accompli. Senate Repubs will endorse extremist nominees (or dodge the shame with a recess appointment). Appointees will stack Justice Department, FBI, military with Trumpist thugs. Press will be bought out, or cowed into submission (mostly done). #repost 1/3
Protests will be met with massive force, Insurrection Act etc. Dissidents will be harassed and jailed. Elections will be rigged, or inconvenient results disregarded. Third term will be pushed through, one way or another. #repost 2/3
@pluralistic 50 Years ago, I remember a MAD Magazine piece in which the computer prediction of an election had gone wrong. The final scene showed teams of high school volunteers correcting errors in the ballots so the outcome would line uo with the prediction. Plus ca change ...
Some guy called Sulzberger in WaPo wailing that Trump is going to establish a dictatorship and muzzle the press.
But I get my political news from NYTimes and the reports there say Trump is fine, just prone to a bit of vulgarity and exaggeration, same as Harris and Walz. Who to believe?
