One of my goals this year is to read more self published books, so respond here if you’ve got something I should read!

I’m not a high fantasy, sword and sorcery fan. Ditto for Dune style sci-fi. I am awed at the skill required to write it but don’t enjoy reading it right now.

I am currently enjoying magical realism, upbeat sci-fi, urban fantasy and HEA Romance. I do love horror, specifically paranormal horror.

#WritersCoffeeClub Jan 16: How would you describe the way you create your stories to a non writer?

I don't so much feel I create stories as I discover them. So many times as I'm writing I find myself surprised by the turn the story has taken, or the choices my characters have made.

My hubby, an enabler, got me a block printing starter kit for my birthday. Because I’ve been wanting to learn how to block print.

It only came with one block to carve but I have more coming. In the meantime I jumped in with both feet and promptly made a CLASSIC mistake.

So these are, ummmm, limited edition?

Edit: After further discussion I realize that I did this on purpose. The backward number is a statement about the state of the world. Who wants a print ?

#Bookstodon Give me your recommendations! I’m looking for an independently published book for my book club’s 2025 line up. Preferably 400 pages or under. Genre could be any, we read a wide range of things.

#WritersCoffeeClub Dec 6: Sentence fragments?

Oooo yeah I’m a fan of a good, well placed sentence fragment. I’m of the “rules were made to be broken” school of grammar. I believe that knowing when to do things “wrong” for impact is one of the ways you flavor you writing. Knowing when though, that’s the key. There’s a fine line between spicy and incompetent.

I haven’t written letters in way too long. I found, of course, the longer I waited the more pressure there was. It’s been months, this better be an epic letter!

So today I sat down, wrote a short note saying hello and let’s get back to corresponding. I put a wax seal on it and some cool stickers and even the stamp matched the stationary. It felt so good. Hopefully I can get caught up with all the pen pals I’ve neglected.

This is one of the weirdest things I’ve ever painted. It’s going to be a painting of a damaged painting, with some restoration tools. I was really nervous to tackle it but now that it’s underway I’m getting excited! I’ll likely not get back to it until Friday but I’m really looking forward to adding the painting to the painted canvas 😂 #Art #AcrylicPainting #WIP
