@thomasfuchs I'd think this is a pretty popular opinion with anyone who has written non-trivial amounts of code.
Rewatching some #StarTrek TNG, based on https://medium.com/maxistentialism-blog/star-trek-the-next-generation-in-40-hours-c4a6762cbd3 & https://wordmerc.medium.com/star-trek-the-next-generation-watch-skip-guide-e489377bfd9 ๐งต
S01E01, Encounter at Fairpoint: That wasโฆ not good. How did this show ever get made after a pilot like this?
S01E11, The Big Goodbye: The first holodeck episode. Cheesy noir fun, but thereโs a better version of this in season 2.
S01E12, Datalore: A tale of two Androids or KITT vs. KARR, Star Trek edition. Nice episode and contains a satisfying amount of people saying โShut up, Wesley!โ
S01E19, Heart of Glory: Worf's loyalties get tested as we learn about his backstory. Could have skipped this, but it's an important Worf episode and he's the character who appears most across the franchise (277 episodes & 5 movies).
S01E22, Skin of Evil: The only reason to watch this episode is to witness the (pointless) death of a major character, Lieutenant Natasha "Tasha" Yar. Killed by one of the most unimpressive villains in Trek history, Armus.
S01E24, Conspiracy: A bit of an unusual episode. Apart from the bad special effects I actually quite liked this, the bar is low in S01 anyway.
S01E25, The Neutral Zone: Return of the Romulans and an insufferable rich guy who should have been yeeted into space. An unremarkable ending to an overall unremarkable season, but we're not too far away from the first really good episode now.
S0203, Elementary, Dear Data: IMO a much better holodeck episode than The Big Goodbye. Quite entertaining.
S02E08, A Matter of Honor: Riker goes on an officer exchange on a Klingon ship. I always liked this episode and still do. "Gagh is always best when served live" is such an iconic sentence.
S02E09, The Measure of a Man: Trek goes courtroom drama. One of the all time great TNG episodes. Still liked this as much as when I originally saw it on TV back then.
S02E16, Q-Who: A good Q episode, and the Borg get introduced, what's not to like?
S03E04, Who Watches the Watchers: A nice episode about the Prime Directive. Picard has to convince an alien species that he is not a god after the accidentally reveal themselves to a pre-warp civilization.
S03E06, Booby Trap: Also could have been called "Georgi finds a waifu". I could have skipped this one.
S03E10, The Defector: Interesting episode about a Romulan defector. I enjoyed this one.
S03E13, Dรฉjร Q: I'm generally not the biggest fan of Q episodes, but this one is kinda alright. Though the ending makes the whole episode a bit pointless IMO.
S03E15, Yesterday's Enterprise: A classic TNG time travel episode. Tasha makes a brief comeback, to get the send-off she deserved. Also, what a weird opening dialog between Worf and Guinan.
S03E16, The Offspring: Data creates a second Soong-style Android, Lal. A touching episode similar to "The Measure of a Man".
