It’s leverage that enshittifies ^anything^.

A wrestling match is about finding leverage to defeat your opponent. Giving anyone, anything, leverage over your conscience, over your principles, opens an expressway to losing them, and everything else you value.

It captures what is (should be?) the purpose of government. And how the voting public has completely missed that.

The Verge has its roots deep in tech. But that shouldn’t be an obstacle for your students.

Nice piece by Doctorow. For me, the essential point is that no single for-profit entity is capable of mediating the interests of all of humanity, or even 10% of it. It necessarily puts its interests ahead of all whom it purports to serve.
