I've randomly opened the changelog for nano (the text editor that usually is pre-installed on Linux but unlike vim you can exit it) and behold, there is now a flag to make it use hotkeys that we all used to!

The --modernbindings flag makes ctrl+C to copy, ctrl+V to paste, ctrl+Z to undo, ctrl+Q to exit, etc. No ctrl+S to save, though.

Thanks for keeping the built-in "println" function. The Go spec threatens that it may be dropped in any release, but having to type fewer letters is invaluable for debugging.

Also, importing fmt adds at least 100 Kb to the final binary. Using println instead of fmt.Println helps to save precious space on embedded systems and it makes "Hello world" compiled with TinyGo very small, just a few kilobytes, which is an amazing selling point.

The discussion is year old. Ross Cox presented, published, and researched a lot on the subject, gave a few public talks, and published 4 long blog posts. Telemetry in the #golang toolchain is explicit and opt in. There is no hidden data collection.

@rwp0 On Mastodon, there is no The Algorithm. Your timeline is what you follow. If it sucks, it's on you 👀

@rwp0 Also, if someone you follow boosts too much, you can mute busts from them.

@rwp0 I don't know! Maybe, you've subscribed to a hashtag? Or maybe you are looking not at the home timeline? There are a few separate timelines:

    1. People and hashtags you follow
    2. All posts on the same instance (that's how I found your post)
    3. Popular posts of the day over all instances.
    4. Lists. You can create separate tumelines and add there specific people.
