Yes, but due to the systems that are forced on us, justice is usually followed by more injustice.
Zimbabwe had a successful decolonization movement which included a land reform program, but then had international sanctions imposed on them.
Many places have been able to get their independence, but then have that independence taken away by Imperialism, and the transformation of governments into Neocolonial entities acting on in accordance to the will of wealthy countries.
South Africa's case against Israel is important not because of the result. But because South Africa built their case and brought it to court. South Africa legitimizes what Palestinians have been saying regardless of the ruling.
One of the big problems with looking at issues affecting people of the Global South through a white lens is white optimism.
When you have systems that are built to benefit white power structures, those systems are inherently built to oppress or reinforce the oppression those who are not white.
That's what makes you a liability to other people's movements.
Also it's always white people saying "Wait for the results."
The rest of us have a history of waiting, then being served Injustice.
It has become an expectation. It is white optimism that waits with expectations that there may be a good outcome.
It's easy for you to tell others to wait, when waiting has no cost to you.
There is so much public information of what is going on.
There are no longer any excuses for you to not know.
"I don't know enough" is not a valid excuse.
You tolerate genocide apologists, and you wonder why the rest of us never trust you.
Generation after generation, group after group tells you, "We are being killed!" and you are unbothered by their circumstances.
For the people who have been moving, thank you. To those of you who stopped or never started, wake the fuck up.
In the oppression of others, neutrals only need to be made to stand still.
There is a Genocide going on.
There is an Ethnic Cleansing going on.
Journalists being assassinated.
Doctors and Nurses are being murdered.
Not just by bombs... by snipers.
They are being targeted.
People are being starved, and denied water.
If you want to know how people could stand by while atrocities in the past were committed, then just take a look in the mirror.
Take a look at your families and neighbours.
For a lot of Black, Brown, and Indigenous peoples it doesn't take long to get to the realizations:
"Holy shit zionism is racism."
"Holy shit zionism is colonialism."
"Holy shit zionism is imperialism."
because we are affected by those issues.
It's no surprise that the white masses fail to move on this when most of them have such a shallow understanding (if any) of racism, colonialism and imperialism.
Consequence of that lack of understanding, is it becomes very easy to implant doubt.
At a vigil recently, I made sure to thank someone who I recognized from social media who has been a staunch advocate for Palestinians and has received so much hate and vitriol for it.
It takes you a moment to say thank you. To tell them that you see them, and that you appreciate them for doing the work.
When you are at actions, thank people for coming out and make connections with people. Thank them for coming out.
Pro-Palestinian protests, are very diverse. It's important that people see that diversity.
Wear a mask. It helps hide your identity, and helps prevent the spread of disease. There are also people out with disabilities, so we have to keep everyone safe.
People will come out on days where their groups organize. When you let people know how important it is that they came out. That you see them. They will come out to the next one on their own.
If you are out and part of a marginalized group, understand there are visible minorities and invisible minorities. Consider labelling yourself as part of your community and letting people know you as a member of your group is out in solidarity with Palestinians.
So again:
Please come out.
Please encourage others to come out.
Make connections while you are out. Make friends.
Thank those you see out.
Thank those you see being abused for supporting.
Please educate yourselves and the younger people around you.
Pay attention to your consumption, change brands, and take your business elsewhere.
Protect your identity.
Express your diversity.
Ignore agitators while out.
Don't be intimidated into not acting.
Free #Palestine
If you are unable to physically go out, offer to help people who are.
You can watch their kids while they are out. You can call and write your representatives. You can talk to peers to get them to go out in your stead.
You can check where you do business with, and if that business supports the Genocide, take your business elsewhere.
Stop buying unnecessary shit. Change to other brands. Check before you buy. Cancel subscriptions.
This Genocide is powered by the West.
We are funding it.
We are arming it.
We need to stop it.
The government of Israel is killing doctors, nurses, teachers, press, children, adults, seniors. Regular people like you and me.
We are approaching the third month of this current cycle of violence.
Israel is doing the violence, our governments are helping.
You need to be opposing your governments for their contributions to Genocide.
When people get retaliated against for opposing genocide, support them.
Educate yourself by listening to Palestinians. Listen to Anti-Zionist Jewish people who have either been able to resist or overcome indoctrination. Listen to how leftists of other oppressed groups relate to Palestinians.
Take what you learn, and inform others. Don't waste time arguing with people who have made a firm decision against opposing genocide. Focus on the young people and those willing to learn.
You need to look for information. There are Jewish Coalitions out there fighting against this Genocide every day.
When Pro-Palestinian people get arrested, these same Jewish Coalitions are out there supporting them. They are out supporting these actions. They are involved in these actions.
For that their Cost of Solidarity is quite high. It's relationships with loved ones and their communities. It's constant harassment from Christian Zionists.
When you see them advocating, support them.
When you are looking at communications, pay attention to who the target audience is.
Palestinians are oppressed and are in urgent need of our support through our solidarity. They communicate to everyone.
People who know they only need to appeal to whiteness will target their messaging to unknowledgeable white people.
That is why Black and other non-white groups are seen as a threat to this colonial project.
There's always people helping. We also need to make sure that we are supporting those who are helping in the capacities they can.
People have to recognize that all of this is State Violence. And the State of Israel, just like the Canada or the US, has those who support the violence it commits, and those who oppose it.
We need to give visibility to those who are speaking and acting out against the Genocide of Palestinian Peoples.
I got injured in October. Two days later, I was back out protesting.
My Disabled ass has been doing the non-trivial commute to and from actions on a regular basis.
That is because I am not OK with Genocide nor Ethnic Cleansing.
My very real pain is less important to me than the fact that:
- People are being killed
- People have no food and water
- There is aid, but that aid is being prevented from getting to the people who need it.
- People are being displaced
Get out there.
This is a Genocide as explained by someone who studies Genocide:

Your focus right now needs to be about ending the Genocide.
Don't let people distract you.
Keep moving.
