According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the Sahara Desert 6,000 years ago was a fertile region of lakes, rivers, and grasslands, supporting wildlife and human settlements. Around 5,000 years ago, a shift in Earth’s orbit caused rainfall to decline, leading to desertification and the arid landscape we see today.

Burial pit with horses and chariots (Spring and Autumn period, around 6th to 5th Century BC), China 🇨🇳

The burial tradition of interring horses and chariots alongside the deceased was a mark of honor, usually reserved for royalty or nobility. The horses were likely sacrificed to accompany the charioteer in the afterlife, reflecting the belief that the deceased would continue to need transportation and status symbols in the next world.

The Veiled Christ (Cristo Velato) is a sculpture completed in 1753 AD, originally (mis) attributed to Antonio Corradini and considered one of world’s most remarkable pieces of art. In fact, the great neoclassical maestro Antonio Canova, who tried to buy the work, said he would gladly give up ten years of his life to produce such masterpiece.

Carn Brae Castle - UK 🇬🇧

This castle started as 15th Century AD, hilltop hunting lodge. It has remained basically the same with a few additions made in the 19th Century. It is next to the site of the oldest neolithic settlement discovered so far in Cornwall.

This bronze head, found on the island of Delos in 1912, represents one of the most extraordinary masterpieces of Hellenistic art that has survived to this day.

It dates back to 1st or 2nd Century BC and is known among Anglo-Saxon scholars as the "Worried Man of Delos" due to the incredible expressiveness of his features.

Hadrian's Arch was constructed in 130 AD to honor the visit of Emperor Hadrian to the ancient city of Tyre in South Lebanon.

It reaches a height of 21 meters and is the official gate of this antique Phoenician city, one of the oldest in the world, continuously inhabited for over 4,700 years.

Tyre is a Unesco world Heritage site in war zone now.

The 5,000-year-old Tarkhan Dress, an ancient Egyptian relic, tells stories of a long-gone civilization. Found in 1913 near Cairo, Egypt.

This linen dress is the oldest woven garment in the world. Its V-neck design and pleated sleeves show the craftsmanship of that era. More than just clothing, it symbolizes human ingenuity and the rich history woven into its fabric.

Around 5000 years ago, the Neolithic people of Dartmoor, UK; cut and placed this 27 feet high standing stone of granite where The Oxenham Arms pub is now located.

The pub was built around it about 800 years ago, the stone goes all the way down into the foundation’s in the cellar.
