@BeAware on my instance we have a firewall block of the Facebook IP ranges which I think is a nice solution because of authorized fetch's problems. (In addition to just fediblocking them)

@BeAware from my understanding an instance block without authorized fetch (off by default and has big problems) or a firewall block also works like you said. The post can be seen and interacted with by a fediblocked remote instance.
