Perfectly calibrated to make my blood boil:
- pickup truck in a walkable neighbourhood
- truck is running but empty
- stopped on the sidewalk (like why do we even have driveway curb cuts, clearly they're not necessary)
- right outside a school
- while I walk past with a stroller

I have never felt more respected or validated in my life than when I drove this onto the elementary school playground this morning

Actually it SHOULD be difficult and stressful to drive a car in a city and if it's not then you're not taking your responsibility seriously enough

We have been sold a message that driving should be easy, fun, relaxing, and convenient, that roads are where drivers should feel comfortable, and when someone on the street "comes out of nowhere" it is not your responsibility.

Rates of driving in Norway have increased dramatically since the 1980s. This doesn't happen in a vacuum. Look at the difference between these two maps of grocery store locations in Lørenskog, Norway in 1980 (left) and 2019 (right). What looks different?

Pedestrians, it should be our right to be distracted. It should be our right to walk and listen to music / look at the sky / cute dogs / snowflakes and not worry about getting killed. Nothing about that is dangerous except for CARS. Don't let them make you believe you are the problem.

Housing is deeply unaffordable and this art piece clearly communicates that, but what the story never mentions is that this could also be a commentary on parking and land use - not only is #housing too expensive and scarce, but #parking is too cheap and too plentiful.

Today I saw one of those letter message boards in the countryside north of Toronto that said "RENT THIS SIGN". You have some cash and would like to stir the pot. What #urbanist slogan do you put on there?

I caught up to her at the light (obviously, it's a Friday afternoon in Toronto and #CarsRuinCities) and said "you shouldn't be driving if you don't know the rules." She told me I was wrong and drove away, I stood on the sidewalk and cried from frustration and rage.

Write this on my tombstone when the next asshole kills me:

YOU DO NOT NEED TO STAY TO THE RIGHT WHEN THE LANE IS TOO NARROW TO SHARE

This is like an everyday normal thing, but it always shocks me how callous people are. She passed me that close on purpose, to teach me a lesson, and does not care AT ALL that it scared me and could have hurt me. She is driving a death machine and she thinks she is right.

Does anyone know of a jurisdiction that provides detailed information on their traffic signal timings? #Toronto provides this data for $120 per intersection (ouch), just wondering if there are other options out there.
