People need to be aware and understand just how significant this issue has become. Violence and ethnic cleansing is the goal and they are succeeding because we collectively allow it for the most part. If you suspect someone is a white supremacists, do you contact police? What channels do we have available to us really?

Jesse van Rootselaar: The 18-year-old transgender behind Canada’s deadly school shooting – Firstpost
    https://www.firstpost.com/explainers/who-was-jesse-van-rootselaar-canada-school-shooting-bc-tumbler-ridge-13978867.html#goog_rewarded

It's Transgender AND White-supremacist, please don't conveniently leave out that part, which explains the motive way more if you look at who most mass-shooters are generally.

I'm leaning towards the idea that there is no such thing as "cancel culture".

A lot of influencers or people with a platform who were supposedly "cancelled" are often co-opted by the same insidious groups with deep-pocket funding from the fossil fuel industry, tech-oligarchs, TERFs, the manosphere, white-supremacists, etc- they are simply embraced by useful idiots and shifted into the alt-right pipeline, next to the more extremist and violent factions.

The likes of Joe Rogan and Russel Brand claim they were "cancelled" by the mainstream and yet they're making more money now by spouting right-wing talking points, pandering to rich donors by giving airtime to the most selfish and toxic people who call anyone who isn't part of their cult a "communist".

That's hardly getting cancelled. It's a rebrand with a paycheck.

    "What radicalized you?"

    Nothing radicalized me.
I was born with basic empathy.
Somehow the world decided that was radical.

Most people in New Zealand don’t have a problem with free speech.
It’s been part of how we do things for a long time.

What’s raised eyebrows is how the idea’s been picked up and pushed in recent years, and who’s been doing the pushing.

The Free Speech Union didn’t just appear on its own.
It was set up through the Taxpayers’ Union, connected into overseas networks like the Atlas Network, and within a few years was being taken seriously inside Wellington. Before long, it was influencing legislation through ACT.

That’s a fairly quick path from lobby group to law-making.

Once it had a seat at the table, officials were told to consult it.
    Legislation was drafted.
Universities were put on notice that they’d be monitored and surveyed, with consequences if they didn’t comply.
All of this was framed as protecting speech.

After that, a few things became clear.

    Academic freedom didn’t noticeably improve.
Universities lost some autonomy over how they govern themselves.
    Treaty-related teaching came under pressure.
Communities already dealing with abuse and harassment had fewer protections.
Funding was pulled from the Disinformation Project.
Donors behind the campaign stayed largely out of sight.
Ideas imported from overseas culture wars started showing up in New Zealand law.

At that point it’s reasonable to ask who actually gained from it.

    It wasn’t students.
It wasn’t universities trying to do their job.
It wasn’t Māori, Muslims, or others who tend to carry the cost when speech protections are stretched without care.

The ones who did well were a small, well-organised set of lobby groups that have spent years bringing American political tactics into New Zealand. They didn’t need broad public backing to do it. They just needed access, funding, and time.

    Call it whatever you want.
What it isn’t is free speech.
What it is is a small group shaping the rules without ever asking the country.

I’m of the belief that financial stability could greatly reduce depression and anxiety.

You can meditate all you want, journal about gratitude, walk under cherry trees, etc. but none of that makes the landlord wait another week, or buys meds, or keeps the fridge full.

Financial stability doesn’t cure the dark, but it cuts the edge off. It turns panic from a daily drip into background static. Suddenly you have space to breathe, to rest, to mess up without disaster waiting at the door.

Money isn’t happiness. But poverty is an open wound. Anyone who pretends otherwise hasn’t bled long enough.
