if there is "some debate" as to whether or not North America and Australia are settler-colonial states which can be viewed through the lens of colonized and colonizer then I would like to find said people "debating" it and fucking scalp them

the racist myth that there just weren't people here before white people is flatly wrong, it was a constant effort on the part of the colonizers. they spread small pox blankets, they expanded bloodily and without relent, they disobeyed treaty after treaty. they committed the largest genocide in human history. you cannot say there is "some debate" on this matter

white people literally were not here before, they came here and SETTLED and COLONIZED the land by forcibly conquering and seizing it over and over again, evicting populations INDIGENOUS TO said lands, or just outright killing them! the term settler colonialism basically was invented to describe what the euros did to these continents, and did in South Africa, and are doing to Palestine right now!

You just have to be completely willfully ignorant of history to disregard settler colonialism as a useful lens when discussing the history and present of these places. or you just gotta be a journo for the washington post. but I repeat myself.

let the birth rates fall actually, it's fine. It is to the dismay of racists, landlords, evangelicals, and capitalists that people are having less kids. I'm not an antinatalist by any means, mind you, but it is worth reminding everybody that falling birth rates is not in fact a problem at all.
