It literally happened because of that shitty Iron Source buy-out that everyone was pissed about. 20c per install doesn't sound like much to PC users, but that's potentially enough to nuke mobile gaming entirely. Which they know, because they also run the stats system mobile devs use to calculate ARPU/ARPPU.

Unreal taking a small cut of revenue works fine. That's based on you know, money you made.

Unity charging based on "Installs" might actually cost you money in mobile space. Or if you do a PS+ freebie. Or GamePass. Or especially an EpicStore freebie. They know what they're doing, and it's fucking evil.

EVERY "public service" company is now attempting to extract value. They're all going for it. They're gonna burn it all down to try and turn AI into a financial exit. Search engines, communication backbones, social networks, everybody.

My read is they're all shit terrified of the impact AI will have and aren't long-term thinkers, so their only short term play is to burn it all down and exit ASAP. Never mind that what they're burning down is, uh, the entirety of our infrastructure. They don't care.

Just thinking about the Florida shit actually killing Pride celebrations there, and

this is the first Pride in I don't know how many years where it feels relevant again, instead of just an event to be hijacked by corporate interests? So that's gonna make next month interesting.
