NotSludgeBomb (notsludgebomb@blob.cat)'s status on Wednesday, 12-Jul-2023 22:56:46 JST NotSludgeBomb so apparently, on amd64, Linux system calls take their fourth parameter in the r10 register instead of rcx. Literally everything else follows the C ABI, except this one register. And this costed me genuine hours of debugging. I am :blobfoxangry: crimes will committed -

NotSludgeBomb (notsludgebomb@blob.cat)'s status on Friday, 07-Jul-2023 22:29:12 JST NotSludgeBomb @Jain what gets me is that I’ve never given them a phone number before. If it were for verification, they couldn’t possibly be verifying that it’s me, it’s just verifying that I… have a phone?

NotSludgeBomb (notsludgebomb@blob.cat)'s status on Friday, 07-Jul-2023 22:23:09 JST NotSludgeBomb Google, I gave you a recovery email address to verify new logins. I used this recovery email address to verify a new login. Why are you now demanding I give you my phone number? How is that any more verifiable? Something tells me you just want my phone number.

i havent published it anywhere, but i’m calling it basilibc (named after me (named after an omori character))
might make posts every now and then about it and some fun things learned from it

NotSludgeBomb (notsludgebomb@blob.cat)'s status on Wednesday, 21-Jun-2023 19:26:14 JST NotSludgeBomb once again, please stop using content warnings like “mh-“ or “ec”. I know it’s compelling to shorten things, but it’s not easy to interpret that as “mental health (negative)” or “eye contact” without prior exposure. Which like, kinda defeats the point of a content warning.
Actually describe the potential sensitivities in the content. Don’t assume people already know acronyms. The content warning should describe itself.
This also makes it easier to let ourselves get away with non-descriptive content warnings. Like, “mh” could mean *so* many things. There are so many issues people could have, it’s not enough to just say “mental health”. What specifically is wrong? There are things that fall under the umbrella of “mental health” that may be upsetting to someone, but others that may not upset that same person.
Unless you’re somehow *really* tight with the character limit, you have no excuse to abbreviate the content warning. It makes it less understandable, requiring context to get, and sacrificing some important descriptiveness, just to satisfy that weird part of our brain that likes when things get smaller.
Also, it’s probably worse for screen readers, though I’m not really sure about that so I’m not gonna make that a main point. If you use a screen reader, please provide your thoughts.
Also also, one last thing, “-“. Like, really? That’s saying literally nothing. I do not gain any information from a content warning that just says “-“. If you’ve recognized that a post needs a warning, you should know why and thus be able to describe it. -
