Please be delicate when chanting “sell the team”. Yes, the ownership hasn’t been kind to this team in terms of making them contenders for the Cup.
The situation with the [Dallas] Mavericks is one example. They’re an ownership who knows nothing about the sport and ordered a trade of their generational superstar in Luka Doncic. You thought the Aquilinis might not care? The next person w/deep pockets might be worse.
Another thing to worry about is: Relocation. Imagine a foreign billionaire buying the team and moving them elsewhere. Where haven’t we seen this before, Vancouverites?
It would be a frickin’ miracle if we get someone like a Steve Ballmer who can front the cost of a new arena, practice facility, and front office personnel that is driven to make the team competitive again.
For context, the Toronto Maple Leafs are in the second round of the Playoffs and HL3 is now a fully playable game internally @ Valve (according to Eurogamer @ least).
I equate the odds of the Toronto Maple Leafs winning the Stanley Cup to Half Life 3 actually dropping on Steam. If Valve presses the button of all buttons for this game, the Leafs are winning the Cup that same year.
Guaran-damn-teed, Toronto Maple Leafs == Stanley Cup Champions.
@britt I just want Canada to hoist the Cup. Be it Edmonton, Winnipeg, Montreal, Ottawa, or *eye roll* Toronto. I want to see Canada win the Cup (finally). #AnyTeamNecessary
Real talk: Hey everyone! I just want to let everyone know that I’m okay. Nothing bad happened to myself, family or friends. None of us were at the event.
I was actually at home the entire day, debated on whether to go out on Saturday. I felt lazy and opted to stay home instead.
If you know anyone here to might of attended the event, please check in with them!
Welp, I don't have a horse in this race that is the #NHLPlayoffs therefore, I will be rooting for the Oilers in the West (#beatLA Edmonton) and *sigh* The Maple Leafs in the East (sorry @britt@craftykraken ). Some of us (population: me) want to see the hockey equivalent of "Half Life 3 Confirmed" & the Maple Leafs hoisting the Cup.
@britt The moment you posted this, I was enjoying two scoops of the Canucks Ice Cream. I didn't know Ice Cream trucks that pass by smaller communities & Cul-De-Sacs are still a thing.
@britt@craftykraken Whenever Charles Barkley talks about hockey, I get giddy inside as I love both basketball & hockey. It is amazing & surprising just how much he knows about the sport as he does basketball.
Anyways, he predicts that it will be an all Canadian matchup for the Cup between LOL the Leafs & Oilers with the Oilers winning it all.
@britt My iPhone XR could hold a charge for most of the day but it wasn’t the battery champ it once was. I upgraded to an iPhone 16e—feels great to have an iPhone with enough storage for music, apps, and pics. The battery life on it is AMAZING!
If Halo Studios/Microsoft, Bungie did this for the Halo 2 servers, I would have pounced on this. I was one of the shmucks (along with a couple of friends) that kept playing in the wee hours of the morning until I tapped out (~5:48am-ish CST).
My non-spoiler Minecraft movie review: The movie doesn't Hollywood the core essence of the video game. If you played the video game, you'll understand this movie just fine--otherwise, you'll be bored when the movie starts.
I didn't like how TikTok made it okay to cheer for *EVERY* Minecraft reference like it was final battle Avengers: Endgame.
The green screening of this movie is bad. Like modern-era Spy Kids bad. It felt like a cheap E3 Minecraft sizzle reel starring Jack Black.
If you insist on going to the theatres for this movie, go to an early-morning showing. Otherwise just wait for it to hit streaming/digital rental (Apple TV+, Amazon Prime video).
