I think sometimes we get used to hearing our own voices online & start imagining ourselves to be experts on anything we talk about.
I mean, maybe it's just me, but I don't think it is.

Greg Gutfeld (Fox News "comedian"), speaking regarding Renee Good: "why are there so many liberal white women risking their lives & breaking the law for strangers?"
Ok, yes, I'm glad to hear Nazis upset & concerned about the number of white women involved, heart & soul, in protecting their neighbors.
That is GOOD fucking news that they are upset about that. They depend on white women to keep their white supremacist world running. If white women won't do it, their whole thing falls apart.
"why are white women risking their lives for strangers?"
Because we spent too much of our lives already defending your patriarchy & your status quo, & we would rather take those risks then remain the quiet servants of white supremacy.
And because white women got fucking called out on the fact that our actions didn't align with our values. So we are realigning. Thanks for noticing, Greg. We have to do this.
The inability to understand why someone in one group would set aside their relative privilege & safety to defend someone else is why they are going to lose & we are going to win.
Solidarity wins.
The fact that he asked the question points to the reality that "white feminism" can only get you so far, & that white women have had a habit of choosing our own safety when things get tough, so I bet he's fucking *baffled* at the idea of that changing.
The fash have a tendency to believe that anyone who is on their side (either ideologically or through passivity) will always remain on their side.
We know better. Sometimes you get called out & you actually take it to heart.
The *only* thing white supremacy has to offer white women is "protection" against the scary Others.
If white women realize that the people they need protection from are the violent white men who control them & that instead of needing to be protected from the Others, those people deserve THEIR protection, the whole thing falls apart.
The fash need white women to be scared of everyone who is not like them. If the women refuse to be terrified, they've got nothing to keep them in line.
Me: "down with the genocidal empire!"
Them: "saying that is actually, literally genocide."
Me: "we can't stay with a political system built to systemically oppress people & that requires constant violence to maintain."
Them: "um, you're saying you want marginalized people to die."
One of the reasons that "incremental change" doesn't work is that—while progress takes a long time—they sure can very efficiently steal from, imprison, & kill a whole bunch of people.
Are we going to ask them to do it just a little less every year? Are we going to sit back every time this violence is done & say "they wouldn't want us to intervene. Rapid change hurts marginalized people most. A lot of people will die if we upset the status quo."
A lot of people *are* dying, motherfucker!
You know that here in the US, the indigenous genocide is STILL ongoing through many different means, right?
How many more years do we let it go on in the name of "protecting" the people to whom it is being done?
How long exactly is tolerable? How many more years of erasure & eugenic policy will we have before we finally "make enough progress"?
"waiting on incremental change" is not a state of stasis. It's not like the damage & violence stop accruing.
It's not like they stop criminalizing & imprisoning Black men. It's not like they stop their racist, eugenicist policies. It's not like they stop looting & plundering from everyone. It's not like any of this shit stops while we wait.
The death toll can only ever go up.

Someone quote tweeted this & said that "this is propaganda that leads to genocide" & is using the language of the Heritage Foundation/Project 2025. Went on in this vein for a while. Apparently it's very racist of me to have the political philosophy I learned from Black & indigenous people.
With every fucking city they send ICE to, Americans are learning more & more tactics to obstruct & weaken them.
Every time they move to a new city, they are just letting us put fresh warriors in the fight.
I have had the privilege of watching many, many people change over their life, moving towards more liberatory ways of thinking & living.
People do change. Not all people. But people do change.
@FlashMobOfOne
You can never say how many, but I'm pretty sure at least for *some* people, this will have a big impact.
There are people in supposedly "red" areas who have been tearing their hair out trying to figure what the hell they're supposed to be doing during the obvious rise of extreme authoritarianism. Getting socked in the gut like this might give them some clarity.
@FlashMobOfOne
Or maybe better put: I don't know if this *by itself* changes anyone's mind, but I think it has a powerful psychological impact that could be used to help someone break through the brainwashing.
It doesn't just magically change minds, but it can be used.

My brother is sending updates to my mom straight out of Minneapolis. You think she's not sharing with her local friends in small town Iowa?
Frankly, I'm crossing my fingers that this marks a point where some folks make the decision that they are in this fight too
RE: https://dice.camp/@artemis/115906696663103348
This is the type of thing that doesn't "just go back to the way it was".
My brother isn't going to un-get-to-know his Somali neighbors, & they aren't going to forget him acting in solidarity & support of them either.
In that regard, Twitter was even more hellish than I realized. I wanted to be talking with people who are also trying to make the world a better place, but instead I was getting worn down & distracted by the people trying to make it worse.
I'm happy to have some back & forth, receive new information from people, get called out if I'm fucking up, etc.
But I do not fucking need jerks who just want to cause problems wasting the energy which I could spend on good, important conversations.
