I had not encountered any negative issues.
My comment was merely an observation about the need to get a fresh 'view' of the page.

The same thing happens with all sorts of pages which make changes to normally cached information.

I've seen it on my own site's pages when I do things like image updates or JavaScript menu changes.

This behavior was not a surprise in the Mastodon context.

My server admin said we were updated, but I did not see any of the changes on my Web page until I did the page refresh. I suspect a fresh launch of the page would have done the equivalent thing.
