To me it boils down to hypocrisy of the banks claiming to offer consumers “choice”. The technology supports the fully remote experience, but it shouldn’t become mandatory. It is very convenient for a lot of the time, but under certain circumstances, I prefer to sit in the same room as a person who isn’t hiding behind a script and can’t just hang up if I need to assert my requirements.

Banks: We want all employees back in the office. Face-to-face interaction is the best way to develop a meaningful and collaborative culture.

Also banks: We're closing our physical branches. Customers can bank with us using the Internet, or phone us and sit on hold for 3 hours. Face-to-face interaction isn't needed anymore.
