Final note on the topic for today... I am always looking for bands/musicians to cover for the blog! The past few weeks most of my submissions have come from Bluesky. Y'all aren't going to let them show you up, are you? Read this about how it works, then submit some of your music!

New installment of Other People's Music comes out tomorrow AM, but that means if you haven't had time to get around to *last* week's, there's still time without creating a backlog!

This entry has some intriguing retrofuture pop, weirdo lofi acoustic experimental jams, Big Beat revival, expansive synthwave and some good ol' rock and roll.
@evan I voted 2-5 cause that's what I have, but the real answer is "as many as they want"
Vance has a new nickname: Vladimir Futon.
Tell your friends.
Like most of you I'm finding myself a little overwhelmed, angered and hopeless given the literal everything happening right now. I don't have much in me for social media...
But I do want to encourage you all to make and/or appreciate some art alongside, or perhaps instead of (if you can manage it), succumbing to your despair.
It might not change the situation outside your head but it goddamn sure will change the situation inside of it, at least momentarily.
And as a side note, because artists are often among the most vulnerable and impoverished members of society, it's also not a bad time to spend some money on that art, if you can.
DIRECTLY on the art, not thru some intermediary like a record company or corporation that's going to steal the bulk of it.
@mdhughes @HauntedOwlbear is Safari a good option? I reflexively avoided it. That would certainly be an easy option.
@tinydoctor @RustyBertrand please post pics when it's done
@RustyBertrand I love that you literally can't tell if these people are joking or not.
Also, the occult is neat as hell AND early Christianity is chock full of magic and mysticism, so these folks who are serious need to learn a little of their own history 😂
I'd like to follow/be mutuals with every #musician and #MusicFan on Mastodon, and I bet I don't even have 10% of y'all in my follow list yet! Let's start to fix that!
Reasons for music fans to follow me:
1) I am mutuals with a HUGE number of musicians, and I promote the fuck out of them, so you'll be exposed to lots of new music
2) I write about almost two dozen of these artists every month, giving you some insight into what they make and why you might like it
3) All the cool kids do it
Alright, @mirlo, a #Bandcamp alternative who hangs out here in the Fediverse, is just $55 short of making its Kickstarter goal! Seems very likely they'll be funded at this point, which is great news for musicians and music fans looking to create a better music industry.
If you want to kick in a few dollars (and maybe your donation will be the one that puts them over the top!), here's the link:

Spotify to raise prices, then pay musicians even less.
If your music is on Spotify, why? Are you so successful that you enjoy subsidizing Spotify executives' extravagant lifestyles?
I've installed an RSS feed reader and now I need some cool blogs or websites to read in my feed reader. So... You got any? Self promo is definitely fine! Encouraged even!
Topics I'd be down to look at include #TTRPG stuff suitable for spectators to the scene (former avid player, now mostly interested in the abstract); almost any #music topic, especially if it's related to #ElectronicMusic and/or #MusicProduction; #leftist #politics, especially nuanced takes on #InternationalRelations.
@cinebox @thomasfuchs my thoughts exactly.
I desperately want one, and I don't even believe in astrology!
@AnarchoNinaWrites I saw that and thought about wading in but I just didn't have the energy yesterday to deal with a bunch of liberals and so-called leftists eagerly praising eugenic wet dreams as a cure for what ails us, much less trying to explain how a precipitous decline in population is actually quite destabilizing to a society.
@endocrimes I think the real problem is there's a lot of Nazis in tech
@endocrimes Nazis will never kick Nazis out of the bar
Saw someone here arguing strenuously that the Boeing whistleblower was simply a tragic suicide in the face of the horrific pressure of being a whistleblower, and that *any* effort to suggest otherwise was a conspiracy theory.
Well fuck that guy.
The whistleblower told a close friend "If something happens to me IT'S NOT SUICIDE" before his death.
It was an assassination.
A musical spaceship for traveling inner space. Synthesizers, sound design and strange music. He/him. Let's talk about music, art and sound!
