"The absurdity of deeming minicars unsafe while ignoring the danger of gigantic SUVs and trucks reflects a tragic blind spot of US car regulations, which have for decades conflated “car safety” with “car occupant safety.” The result has been an arms race of vehicle size, as well as a refusal to allow Americans to enjoy the myriad advantages that minicars bring to urban residents across Europe and Asia."

Just as the Knights of the Fiddle Squiggle, a secret order devoted to stapler worship, had prophesied. This occult process is depicted in great detail in frescos recently discovered in their underground chapel next to the Ravenna Cathedral and thought to be by the great Finnish master Raphael, painted in his teens, shortly after an encounter with toxic stibnite had turned him into some kind of mutant turtle.

#TraderJoes United, the independent labor union for Trader Joe's employees, is currently *not* calling for a boycott in response to management's attack on the constitutionality of the #NLRB (National Labor Relations Board).

Right now they are "asking folks to support Trader Joe’s United by signing on in solidarity and letting us know you’ll stand with us if we call for a customer strike!"

Stand with Trader Joe’s United! Sign on in Solidarity >>
      from Trader Joe's United
Trader Joe’s management has continued its intense union-busting tactics at every store that's filed for a union election and refuses to bargain in good faith with its workers. Meanwhile, Trader Joe’s crew members at stores across the country are unionizing to fight for the pay, benefits, and safe working conditions that match Trader Joe’s “progressive” image. As Trader Joe’s management doubles down on union-busting ― we need to double down on our people power. One of the best ways to do this is when folks like you, Trader Joe’s customers, use the power of the purse to show Trader Joe’s you won’t shop there until it becomes a workplace that actually reflects the values they claim to have. We haven’t asked customers to boycott Trader Joe’s, but as their union-busting attempts increase, we need to know how many customers will stand with us in the fight for a fair contract. We’re asking folks to support Trader Joe’s United by signing on in solidarity and letting us know you’ll stand with us if we call for a customer strike! >>

Solidarity alert! #Bandcamp has been sold to #Songtradr, and Songtradr's CEO has not recognized the the #BandcampUnited union and is not promising to offer jobs to all current employees.

A terrible look ahead of #BandcampFriday, new owners!

BandcampUnited is asking people to sign in support here: https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/songtradr-recognize-bandcamp-united?source=direct_link&

Demand a fair and timely union election for Bandcamp United
      from Local 1010
Workers at Bandcamp, an online record store and music community that prioritizes support to artists, are unionizing with OPEIU Local 1010. Workers filed for an election with the National Labor Relations Board on March 16, 2023, and together we’re calling on company leadership to allow workers to make this decision free of delays, managerial intimidation, surveillance, and/or retaliation. Bandcamp United is made up of eligible workers from all departments, and all walks of life—all class and racial backgrounds, all regions of the United States, all genders and sexualities, a variety of dis/abilities, and more. These workers are committed to advocating for a better Bandcamp for all—not just for their bargaining unit—including their international colleagues and the artists, labels, and fans who use the platform. A supermajority of workers already think a union is the answer. I stand with Bandcamp workers seeking a fair and timely election process. Workers are forming their union to secure fair, equitable, and sustainable conditions for all workers at Bandcamp and to hold Bandcamp accountable to its artist-first mission. All workers deserve to exercise their labor rights, and the only reason company leadership would delay or disrupt this process is because they are not ready to negotiate with the union in good faith. It’s time for a fair election without delays.

"For the wealthy, bankruptcy is the sport of kings, a way to skip out on consequences. For the poor, bankruptcy is an anchor – or a noose. This is by design: judges who preside over elite bankruptcies speak of their protagonists as heroic "risk takers" and tiptoe around any consequences, lest these titans be chained to a mortal's fate, costing us all the benefits of their entrepreneurial genius."

The blowback was largely because paid blue checks did not require verification that you were *that* person or company, and so opened the door (sometimes hilariously) to imitators and (more seriously) to misrepresentation.

I'm sure a few "verified" folks' noses were out of joint because their status was no longer selective, but the problem wasn't that "jane q. public" could get a blue check, but that someone *saying* they were "jqp" could get a blue check just by paying $8.
