1. > Booking issues << The trouble with bubbles The intensity of internet discourse can sometimes create an overinflated sense of just how interested the general public is in certain stories. For instance, Graham Linehan's new memoir Tough Crowd: How 1 Made And Lost A Career In Comedy sold 39 copies in its First week - including pre-sales. A figure that fails to place it in the Top 1000. To put that into context, titles that did crack the Top Thou include: a large print wordsearch book in at No.551, which sold more than tuice that; and a colouring book called Dinosaurs Around The World, which sold over 2,060.

I didn't realise that Blackstone had bought Ancestry.com in 2020 https://futurism.com/the-byte/private-equity-bought-largest-consumer-dna-database
A reminder that while getting DNA tested to find out family links can be awesome, it's probably the worst thing you can give freely - or pay a fortune to give - to massive international companies

Ancestry® | Family Tree, Genealogy & Family History Records

Ancestry® helps you understand your genealogy. A family tree takes you back generations—the world's largest collection of online family history records makes it easy to trace your lineage.
2. Domain not in remote thumbnail source whitelist: wp-assets.futurism.com

A private equity firm just bought the largest consumer DNA database

It's a timely illustration of how little control people have over their information once they take a DNA test.

1. A screenshot from twitter form the Conservative party. text: NEW Conservatives are safeguarding scientific research from the denial of biology and the steady creep of political correctness. Michelledonelan announces plans to depoliticise science at #CPC23 Underneath, an image with the tory party logo, a small box with the phrase "Long-tern decisions for a brighter futrue" And then bigger text: "KICKING WOKE IDEOLOGY out of science" Underneath, some generic pictures like someone googled "science", there's a couple of beakers with weird coloured liquid and a gloved hand writing on a clipboard. Much science, very woke

Idiot here, can I use an "8 port Gigabit unmanaged Ethernet switch" to plug into the back of my router so I don't have to buy a new one that has more than one ethernet socket?
