I've updated the starter pack creation process and added a preview step to make it easier to see who you’ve added. ✅
Also starter packs now start in draft state and aren’t published to the community starter pack list until you publish them on the starter pack screen.
I am completely overwhelmed by the response to this post!
Thank you to everyone who reposted, liked, replied, or checked out the site. ❤️
Over 220 of you signed up and created 45 starter packs in the last 2 days! 🤯
Here is the traffic chart from the last few days:

I've been building starter packs for Mastodon in my spare time and today I want to share what I've built with the community:
https://fedidevs.com/starter-packs/
I've started building this when I saw how popular starter packs on Bluesky are and I think a feature like this is even more critical for Mastodon where it's harder to find people to follow across thousands of instances.
Only a small number starter packs are available right now, but I'm hoping the community will add more soon! ❤️
@gvwilson I've tried it in Python and it's even worse (0.77) 🙈
@aral Benjamin pointed out that there is an extension that allows you to define hx-target-error: https://social.data.coop/@benjaoming/112439119762935983
One thing that I'm missing with HTMX and Django is proper error handling.
By default HTMX swallows any response that is not a 2xx, which might leave your users hanging on an endless loading state.
Does anyone have a good solution for this that can be reused between projects?
This work is inspired by @sboots’s blog post published last year: https://sboots.ca/2023/10/27/twitter-is-dead-lets-start-live-tweeting-conferences-on-mastodon-instead/
Hopefully we see more Mastodon live tweets from conferences this year!
I'm finally making a separate page for conferences over at https://fedidevs.com/conferences/
I'm still tweeking the code that aggregates Mastodon posts from the confs, but once that's done I'll start adding 2024 conferences, starting with pycon.it and djangocon.eu (the two that I already have tickets for 😇).
Which other conferences should I add?
I've just launched fedidevs.com ?
It's a little tool I've made to help connect like-minded developers across the different Mastodon instances! ??
The site is bare bone for now, but I'll be adding more features in the coming weeks! What do you want to see added?
