It's Trans Day of Remembrance. Like we do every year, we're remembering all the trans people around the world murdered just for being trans. Days like this shouldn't need to exist. We will keep working until all trans people can live happy and fulfilled lives free from transphobia.
"When cis people try to understand what it is to be trans, I think they often try to imagine what it would feel like to want to be 'the opposite sex'. What they should be trying to imagine, instead, is how it would feel to wake up and find that the whole world insists they *are* the opposite sex. That would be a much closer scenario to how it feels to be trans." Sage

"Trans people come in all shapes and sizes. The ones I have met are nice and just want to get on with their lives. It is wearing to have to justify your existence every time someone wants to call you out on something someone has read or heard." Louise

Many MPs won't knowingly have met a trans person, but we need them to speak up for us in parliament. A good way to let your MP know about the issues impacting trans people is to meet and talk to them. Everyone can ask their MP for a meeting. You can read our top tips at https://transactual.org.uk/change-actions/meet-your-mp/
“When I was seen a man I feared bigger men. As a woman I fear all men, as a trans woman I fear everyone, both men and women. The nicest seeming person can turn very nasty towards trans people, anywhere anyone can turn on you as a trans person.”
Change for trans people: Easy actions you can take. Contact companies and organisations whose forms are not non-binary inclusive. Send them a letter. https://www.transactual.org.uk/change-actions
If you are 18+, residing in UK, and identify as trans, including non-binary, and other gender expansive identities, please consider participating in a group discussion about how you perceive the public discussion around trans topics, and how this impacts you. Please email Abigail, at abigail.butler@city.ac.uk for further info.
"No one should have other people stand in judgement over their gender identity, deciding whether their gender is 'good enough' to count as a man or woman. Nor should they be forced into a binary identification.”
Everyone needs access to healthcare that meets their needs and trans people are no exception. Our ‘Trans Inclusive Hospital Care’ resource is designed to help hospital staff play their part in making a positive difference to trans people’s healthcare experiences.
Being Transgender is nothing new. Roberta Cowell was a racing driver, a fighter pilot and a business woman. She was also one of the first people to have gender confirming surgery when she had a vaginoplasty in 1951.
Breaking news: We've taken the next step to challenge the ban on puberty blockers
We have asked for an urgent hearing that will seek to quash the ban. It is clear that this ban is having a devastating - and harmful - impact on young trans people and we do not believe that waiting is an option.
