in the case of an attack with melee weapons such as axes or knives you need to scatter. go away. slower than the attackers? still go. you're in a target rich environment. if your directing is rolling, tottering, hobbling away you stand a very good chance of getting away. negotiation or surrender in these situations are not options. if in a life or death situation don't hesitate to put anything edged or your thumbs into their eyes.

in the less likely event you spot what you think is a bomb, inform staff. don't operate your phone. don't photograph. light sensitive and radio wave sensitive devices exist. inform staff. you should be relatively safe from a backpack sized bomb at more than 50m away and behind hard cover.

in the even less likely event you spot and actual device memorise everything you can, don't photograph it. go report it. and then you may as well go, the area is about to be cleared by police and private security in no time anyway. you will be asked under pressure for anything about the device. size, smell, wires, audible ticking, switches, batteries, tape messages are all useful information.

updating to acknowledge bbc are sharing their interview with the murderer on their main news feed. it only took them until 9am today to find the footage. i'm sure they were simply very busy

Challenged on my statement that AfD isn't popular.

the AfD isn't popular. what they say is popular. they exercise doublespeak just like any fascist operation and many non-fascist political operations.

I understand they poll around 18% of the vote. they have earned this sizable vote by promising people things completely at odds with their actions.

I hope this clarifies things. AfD, the party not what it says, is not popular, and doesn't represent the people.

one of the lessons* of this spree killing is people who traffic in eurabist fantasy consider eu states to be "fallen" and their white populations "lost". they have no qualms about murdering white people in furtherance of their political aims. begging people still complacent about eurabism to get a fucking clue, especially white people thinking it doesn't affect them. it does.

DW is saying the murderer is a far right influencer with over 40,000 followers on X and helpfully shared this interview he did with the BBC in 2022.

in reference to the OT. did the market have any defences.

so far as i can tell the answer is no. certainly there was a theatre of security, otherwise people wouldn't relax at the market and spend their money.

however there was nothing stopping the murderer driving onto the site to carry out a ramming attack. he could have carried out a carbombing had he been feeling creative.

one of my colleagues at work had quite a lot of disquiet about the ersatz barvarian market in liverpool, 3 years after the attempted spree killing at liverpool's armistice celebrations he was still worried. rightly so imo considering the successful bombing of manchester arena in 2017 and liverpool's near miss in 2021.

i didn't realise just how rightly so.

i have a professional and personal interest in how, if at all, the magdeburg christmas market was defended. and which of these defenses were evaded or failed.

i want to be able to walk around vulnerable sites where i'm working or at leisure and know what is relatively safe or unsafe.

I know tipping barriers are unsafe and can simply be rammed through if you don't care about damage to your vehicle. these "protect" two entrances to the market in liverpool so you can see this event is unsafe.

does anyone know if any other defences failed at magdeburg.

most of the reporting on the spree killing has reported on has focussed on the killer's motivations: sympathy for AfD, anti islam hate, zionism, belief in the eurabia conspiracy, etc. very little is public safety guidance.

I've avoided describing this as a terror attack. the paradigm states and state media operate from is terror is an attack on the state. this isn't how it's defined in law but that doesn't matter (see for example the persecution of Luigi Mangione). if political violence is defined as terror you can be sure it's an attack on the state, if not you can be sure it's not an attack on the state.

as such it's more useful describe the magdeburg attack as a spree killing. how do we the public protect ourselves against spree killers in schools, workplaces, places of leisure, etc.

seriously though, no one cares if the cross pattée has been in use for centuries in states covering at least 2 continents. I don't consider it a reclaimed symbol, I can think of literally no situation where it hasn't been a tell.

does anyone know if hanging was the only method of carrying out capital punishment at the nurenberg trials? I know Germany was still shooting and decapitating prisoners at that time.

i cannot emphasise strongly enough, your work will be limited by the capacity of your boss. something they never tell you in school.

i will at some stage be compiling a variety of excel files because my boss is too cheap for a CRM and doesn't understand excel files with multiple sheets or autofilters.

The views he wants have to be emailed to him on separate excel files.
