Did you know that you can condemn war crimes *everywhere*?

For this to be called “bothsidesism” is ridiculous. False balance is when equal weight is given to both sides of an argument, like Exxon executives vs. climate change scientists.

We’re not talking about Israel vs. Hamas.

The people asking for a ceasefire are presenting an argument against ALL MILITARY ACTION EVERYWHERE that kills kids vs. calling war crimes “collateral damage”.

The “left” contains a number of people who stop their thinking at “Russia good, USA bad” and condescend to and harass people who owe allegiance to humans first, no matter where they are. It’s bullshit when applied to any government. A drone strike on civilians doesn’t become OK because the flag painted on the death machine is your “team”.

Nationalist bullshit can’t get in the way of demanding strict adherence to international humanitarian law. Those laws are the bare minimum.

A bunch of 19th century philosophy word salad doesn’t make “killing kids is good actually” an intellectual tour de force, you muppets.

“But the enemy is worse” is a thoroughly debunked argument against the Geneva Conventions.

The fact that Iris Hefets, who is Israeli and Jewish, was detained by Berlin police for holding a sign that said “As a Jew and Israeli, stop the genocide in Gaza” shows how twisted the rhetoric about Palestine has become.

In 2023, in front of the Brandenburg Gate, police will shut down a demo if people chant "Stop the genocide!"

The same location has been the site of "querdenker" anti-vaccine, eugenicist, anti-Semitic, Nazi rallies. Freedom of expression for AfD, but not for Jewish pro-peace groups.

“Free Palestine” means exactly that. Human rights apply to every single human on earth.

The state of Gaza and the West Bank are too well documented for anyone to be able to claim that the checkpoints, the destruction of infrastructure, the attacks on journalists, the infant mortality rate - that it’s fake.

It is better to call something a genocide, get the bombs to stop, and be proven wrong later than to fail to call crimes against humanity what they are.

If we’re calling on people to remember past genocidal regimes to inform what we do in the present,

Some people need more time to flee for their lives.
Some people can’t climb over rubble.
Some people need electricity in order to breathe.
Some people need refrigeration to survive.
Some people need pain medication to function.

There is no excusing a pogrom.

Being from a religious or ethnic group does not make anyone accountable for the crimes of a particular government.

The attacks in Russia against people arriving from Tel Aviv are inexcusable.

Remember that equating everyday people with a government or non-state actor at war is anti-Semitic *and* Islamophobic.

Leave the planes alone. Leave houses alone. Let people worship in peace. Let people go about their day in peace.

Palestinian children do not deserve to die because Hamas exists.

Israeli children do not deserve to die because of right-wing politicians in the government.

Collective punishment is a violation of the Geneva Conventions.

Do not fall into the trap of dehumanising people. "But terrorists" has been the source of human rights violations for decades now. Don't be a sucker.

Murdering someone else's child will not bring the victims back.

People have a right to water.
Cutting off water is mass murder.

Answering one atrocity with another is not acceptable.

How does it help the hostages to cut off water?

How does it serve longer term prospects for peace to cut off water?

People who kill civilians are not fighting for freedom.

No matter the flag.

You can condemn governments and non-state actors at the same time.

Do they violate human rights? Condemn them. Do their enemies violate human rights? Condemn them too.

When someone asks you to accept the deaths of children, be damned sure you know why they’re asking you to value the lives of some children over kids just like them.

“Hey maybe deciding you don’t like another person on the left side of politics and making shit up about them isn’t a basis for moderation. Just own your Bitch Eating Crackers moment. We have things to do.”

and a list of disclaimers a mile long.
