It's probably possible (i think bing maps is doing this) but I think it is actually *not* wanted by OSM. If a user makes wrong/questionable edits (on purpose or by accident, e.g. because of lack of knowledge), it is helpful/necessary to contact them (e.g., via messages on OSM). Thats not possible without accounts.
