• pull phone out of pocket
• adjust airpods volume
• slide phone back in pocket
• hand or leg grazes the on-screen volume slider on the way down
• sets volume to either total silence, or ear-destroying maximum
every time. just me?

for some reason it really bothers me that when you click and drag this dumb guy in slack, it drags out a sprite sheet 🫠
@dalias i didn’t actually ever use the words “automate” or “bypass”, but, to be fair, i did forget a space in “passthrough”. :) it literally *passes* you the captive portal login flow *through* your web browser. (advantage over a android touchscreen: autofill or password fill works as expected if needed.)
@dalias you first connect to the wifi network it generates, which allows it to pass through the captive portal pages.
traveling with the family and trying the UniFi Travel Router!
it logs into hotel wifi (even captive portals) and creates a new wifi network, with the same name as ours at home. it also sets up a vpn to our home network.
result: everyone’s devices hopped on wifi, with zero setup! (and i get my NAS)
it’s official: these new bathrooms in pdx airport represent the peak of human accomplishment.
individual, private rooms. no gaps.
a shared sink and waiting area.
light, bright, pleasant. accessible.
the toilet gold standard. we did it folks
Here’s an easter egg in the new Lego Batman that I think all of yourwill REALLY appreciate.
It’s so good, I had to make a video.
in my closet i had two vertical APC battery backups sitting side by side. looking closely, that may not have been a good idea.
i know language shifts over time but i am being tormented by a new discovery: "queue line". as in, "here's a look at the queue line for the ride".
folks, it's either a queue, or a line, right? "queue line" is super redundant, right? help me out here —👴🏻
this graduation speech moment is notable, and her amazed shock at having failed to read the room feels instructive.
when you’re inside the bubble, you think everybody else is. but everybody isn’t.
it’s the one message no parent ever wants to get from their child 😱

super fascinated that this person thinks basic-ahh commercial studio photography was “CGI graphics”
in the comments, they are arguing to the death that “yes, CGI was that good in the 90’s” and “it can’t be a photo because the lighting is too consistent”
is this what it feels like to be old
wow
a lot of you are hesitating to update to macOS 26, which is too bad, because i'm over here making my new best friend: foldy
when was this hotel built? the answer is,
over a year ago, i gave a talk at the xoxo conference about a mural, a mcdonald’s, and a man. (but it was also secretly about life, and legacy, and meaning.)
finally, i’m blogging the full story, with behind-the-scenes details, and a video of the talk.
i hope you enjoy this read. https://cabel.com/wes-cook-and-the-mcdonalds-mural/
does anyone else daydream about the epic street party that will take place when they scrape his name off the kennedy center
I work at Panic • You might know us from Transmit, Nova, Prompt for Mac and iOS? • Or, hey, maybe the Firewatch, Untitled Goose Game, and Nour video games? • Or, uhh, maybe Playdate the handheld game console?
