@tchambers I love the spirit of the second one. I shudder at the complexities of enforcing it. Y'all are far more experienced with this stuff than I am, and I'm sure have spent way more time thinking through the implications of enforcing that rule, but... I dunno... my gut says 90% of cases will be an easy call and the last 10% could be an absolute mess...

@tchambers Seeing this late, but we already have a mechanism for marking fediverse accounts as bots. Seems to me it's be reasonable to only allow AI generated content from bot accounts?

I particularly appreciated the call for thoughtful debate. I'm a huge fan of Ryan and his contributions to the community and the treatment he's received from some over the past 24 hours has been beyond the pale. Yet despite that has remained remarkably open-minded and respectful.

Whether it's the communications via Patreon, the posts about instance policy and the reasoning behind it, or the firefighting during sudden surges after Elon tantrums, I've consistently been impressed with the way this place is run and have never second guessed my decision to join. @atomicpoet I like to remind my staff and colleagues that, as much fun as it can be, writing code is ultimately just a means to an end. Every problem you're solving is ultimately a human problem. The technology is just a tool you use, just a hammer in the toolbox. And it's not the only tool in there.
