Well, job search is still really slow. Based on the movie tropes around struggling divorced moms, trans women, and out of work PhDs, I should probably look into becoming a waitress

Someone asked me how I knew I was trans and honestly, I didn’t and still don’t.

What I know is that I started exploring my gender expression and found a lot of joy in it. I took a thousand little steps that felt right deep in my bones. A thousand steps each of which finally felt like getting closer to whatever my true gender expression looks like.

In the end, once I stepped far enough from the box I had been put in, society labeled me as trans. This is a label I have accepted to find others who have been on this journey.

In the end I’m trans because it’s an accurate label. I didn’t realize I was trans, I just realized I needed to start being more me.

I like the less product, lighter, volumetric frizzier look for my hair but i worry it comes off as unprofessional and I’m frustrated I might need to do a whole multi hour routine for my interview.

Like trans folks, the two start in different places, move about, find and support each other and eventually move forward together. To me this represents all the ways trans folks find and support each other. #trans

There are so many ways to reject people from existing within it, the easiest of which is their looks. They are willing to accept a few token folks who don't fit the mold, but often for comic relief or as a "pick me" who quietly accepts their place as a second-class citizen.

@RickiTarr right?! And that was in response to me nicely suggesting there were plenty of criticisms that can be levied towards a trans woman without criticizing her looks. A rule I think we can follow for everyone deserving of criticism.

@RickiTarr It's so clear that a lot of cishet white men feel like we all exist at their grace. That anything not for them or anything closed to them has been taken without their "permission."

I once had a guy literally reply to me telling me that LGBTQ folks had to quietly accept his criticism as the "price of admission" to "[HIS] world"
