Wondering if those eroded mansions will be used as a huge capital loss write-off ?

I am genuinely sorry if families are losing their only home & it will be a terrible financial loss. But truly, soil erosion on coastal property has been apparent for at least last fifty years. The climate change accelerated it drastically, but why did they not consider it in first place?

Nobody in their right mind is going to buy their mansions anyway, so why bother to build a seawall? Even that will have a limited life and need constant expensive maintenance.
