They also do that thing where they ask Google to "pretty please, don't remember the IP address you are using to extract info from users", double lol.

Yes, we do like to compartmentalise and a dedicated website can be nice.

Thankfully it was not difficult to find the techRadar article, that stated "an hour of video streaming (…) approx. 55gCO2e, which is comparable to boiling an electric kettle three times". Framed as manageable by the writer, but three years earlier boiling 0.17 kettles per person for bitcoin was deemed an act of heresy by many people.

Its no matter. Anyway you seem knowledgeable and we wondered your thoughts on hardware removal in computing.

Maybe a DVD-free system can still be UX and privacy-friendly. As well as support file sharing between friends privately and securely.

We realise that this is hardware, but where do you stand on the removal of the compact disk from computers.

We think it has the ill effect of forcing people into so-called "#cloud" systems and softwares that generally reestablish the #power of the #plutocracy or Corporate State. They are also highly unsustainable from an #electricityUsage perspective.

USB are not #sharable, nor easily storable, are more difficult to produce than DVD and less safe. Not a means of #sharing between ppl.

The references are out there re chip manfacture being less sustainable. USB is also less long lasting and requires biannual(?) usage to keep the data relatively intact.

But more practically, what is any given persons ratio of gifted DVDs versus gifted USBs?

How about ratio for reaccessed DVD backup of #archived thing versus USB?

The #streamingServices (forced) trend is widely documented as wasteful for #environment and favours entities with large capital to serve such easily from many #datacenter locations. See our recent toot. Also, because they reject #internetAnonymisers the household is trivially #surveilled and thus easily inflenced/led by #advertisers and/or #repressive forces. Includes being targetted for not streaming enough, or switching off the stream at the "wrong" time, etc.

Not a direct answer, but chemicals produced after exercise aid deeper sleep, which helps #dreaming obviously.

Interesting… An issue with #publicBanking is how to choose who to lend to but a #nonLendingBank takes away that problem.

We've been saying for some time that to remain relevant in 21st century #banks could act more as a #recruitment service. They can aim to help a person find meaningful work — good for bank and #jobSeeker.

Also we think they should become #keystores for public #encryption keys.

Would that fit with your vision? If you don't mind, what country are you in?

We find that using TorBrowser and #I2P are important first steps.

Purging #Cloudflare and all website that use Cloudflare including #banks, is is another important step. In #TorBrowser hit Ctrl+Shift+E to bring up the Network Tab, by looking at the domains the websites use you'll quickly see which are Cloudflare by the "cf-ray" in the HTTP response. The Block Cloudflare MITM Attack (BCMA) plugin can help.

The #UBlockOrigin addon is used by #TailsOS in TorBrowser, so use it.
