It seems to me that MAGA depends on having an establishment “enemy.” So now that they ARE the establishment, I kind of feel like letting them be: not protesting, just letting them lead, and letting them live with the distastrous consequences of their policies. If it wasn’t so inhuman—even deadly for some—it would be a great idea. So the challenge is how to protect the vulnerable while making the perpetrators live with the horrendous effects of their actions in their faces.

8. Eliminate public service agencies eg, NOAA & Education
9. Gut medicare/medicaid
10. Make emigration to US difficult
11. Supress voting
12. Mess up international relations, eg, Ukraine

The problem is that there are real people who really believe this. I know at least one personally and it astonishes me. They vote. They teach. They have children and friends and go to church. They are "nice people."

Here in the US, wondering if this was what it was like in the days before the BREXIT vote. Knowing that if enough people vote based on the lies and prejudices of the Right, we will all suffer unnecessarily.

I have seen Republican ads that flat out lie. For example, one that my husband just received detailed how Kamala Harris was going to destroy Medicare. What the heck!!!

Vance hems and haws because he can't deny that Trump Vance policies on immigration would separate families. So much for #FamilyValues .

To say that "violence has no place in a democratic system" is reminiscent of signs they used to post outside schools: drug free zone. Aspirational maybe, but not real. And to pretend otherwise is to ignore - with consequences - the history of violence against Native Americans, immigrants, women, slaves, LGBTQ+, etc! Violence is embedded in our history, media, and culture. MAGA violence has deep roots, which we have the capacity to address. We've a long way to go. At the very least, vote blue.

The revelation that Samuel Alito flew a stop the steal flag after January 6 is terrifying. It reveals how deep Maga fascism has burrowed into the democratic institutions we rely on to keep us safe from fascism.

A: Above-the-ankle pants aren't attractive. They are a fad-scam. They use less fabric and require zero attention to variable lengths (as is routine for men's pants).

If there's one lesson to take from Donald Trump is that pushing back in every way you can often works.

I hope the push back against #Alito doesn't let up. "My wife likes to fly flags" is not a defense, and from a Supreme Court Justice shows disdain for his oath. Pressure from everywhere please. Hold Alito accountable.

A wet cool June here on the Keweenaw Peninsula, Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Lots of mosquitoes and black flies; lots of biting flies on the beaches. Outside garden plants growing very slowly, some even rotting. The trees, onions, garlic, and perennials are very happy.

Corn bags heated in a microwave (for just 2 or 3 minutes) are fantastic to curl up with. The heat is gentle and lasts a long time. They are especially cozy with a flannel cover.
