@eris@akko.disqordia.space@kainoa@calckey.social Oh lol I didn't even see the Twitter stuff... what a fucking meme, I knew Twitter was dead, I would've never imagined it was THIS dead :kekw: it actually kind of feels bad, it's been my home for 11 years...
@eris@akko.disqordia.space@kainoa@calckey.social wtf? what's that have to do with anything? I mean Kainoa is migrating calckey.social to firefish.social, when did x.com come into the equation (?
@err931@tech.lgbt@kainoa@calckey.social oh no... poor normies, we're so problematic for them... bruh... wtf is wrong with people... I actually took Syuilo for an ally at the very least, he(?) renoted pics of himself drawn as a catboy femboy before :
Honestly the fact that #reddit (as many other companies) is effectively going to not really see much of a drop in revenue after screwing their entire userbase over makes me rather sad...
@miles@snug.moe I don't know, maybe you're right, but it's very discouraging seing none of the people I know are willing to put a second of effort into changing social media to something less predatory... Not just that, but they think you're a freak for not using corporate social media... I'm more disgusted with society every day tbh...
@miles@snug.moe you're right, we gotta keep pushing I guess, it's just... hard to watch how society runs towards the cliff, falls off it, gets all fucked up, and then proceeds to run torwards the next cliff and do the exact same shit over and over again...
@malevius@mastodonapp.uk@miles@snug.moe That used to be true... I honestly don't see it now. People got too comfortable. It's going to take A LOT more than it took MySpace to die for Twitter or Reddit to die, and they know that and are using it.
@Jain@blob.cat@ada@blahaj.zone@supakaity@blahaj.zone I mean it's just an option though, I wouldn't personally mark most of my posts for that, but the same way you can send instance only notes, I don't see an issue with having an option to send "supports X" instances only option
@supakaity@blahaj.zone@Ada@blahaj.zone That sounds like a very good approach, honestly I really hope this gets widely implemented, also, for enforcement (I know it's not the point but it doesn't seem like a bad idea), I was thinking maybe you could have a toggle to allow federating only to instances that support the features you're selecting, i.e. if the user selects they don't want crawlers, only federate to instances that announce no-crawl federation support (? Anyway, just giving ideas, I'd honestly love to help develop this stuff but I'm literally too dumb to even migrate my dockerized misskey instance to calckey, so ye xd
@supakaity@blahaj.zone@Ada@blahaj.zone Not opposed to any of this, very exciting! Just wonder how you plan to deal with quotes, because there isn't really a practical way to prevent people from quoting. Even if you manage to get your instance and compatible federated software to "prevent-quote", other instances which do not support the fields will still be able to quote, you just won't see it, which is arguably worse... And even if you did completely prevent quoting, nothing prevents us from posting a link and relying on link embedding to do the job... Mastodon-style "quoting" has been a thing since forever, it just wasn't called quoting...
Imo, bad actors will bad act... you just ban them... that's what you do... As for no-crawl, I really like the idea of federating no-crawl, but again, you do rely on everyone else implementing your no-crawl field, if I understood your post right...
