1. Ein männlicher Neuntöter (Lanius collurio) sitzt auf einem an einem rostigen Pfahl befestigten Schild. Der Betrachter sieht ihn im Profil. Der Vogel hat einen rostrotbraunen bis kastanienbraunen Rücken und ebensolches Schultergefieder. Oberkopf und Nacken heben sich mit ihrem hellen Blaugrau deutlich davon ab. Neuntöter haben eine schmale, schwarze Gesichtsmaske, in der das dunkle Auge aus der Entfernung gesehen oft optisch fast völlig verschwindet. Die Maske wird manchmal vom grauen Oberkopf durch einen undeutlichen, verwaschen weißen Überaugenstreif begrenzt, der oft hinter dem Auge etwas ausgeprägter ist. Die Deckfedern der Flügel sind rötlichbraun mit deutlich hellerer und rötlicherer Randung; die Handschwingen sind kastanienbraun mit hellerer Randung und die Armschwingen ungerandet dunkelbraun. In seltenen Fällen tritt ein weißer Handschwingenspiegel auf. Dieser wird von einer mehr oder weniger ausgeprägten Weißzeichnung an der Basis der Handschwingen gebildet. Der Bürzel ist – teilweise bis auf den unteren Rücken – grau gefärbt. Der Schwanz zeigt eine kontrastreich schwarz-weiße, löffelförmige Zeichnung: die mittleren Steuerfedern sind größtenteils schwarz, dann folgen Federn mit viel Weiß im oberen Bereich, das zu den äußeren Schwanzfedern hin zunimmt. Die Steuerfedern sind an den Spitzen schmal weiß gesäumt. Die Unterseite ist meist weißlich bis cremefarben, oft sind Flanken und Brust leicht lachs- bis rosafarben getönt.

1. This close up of a few branches of stairstep or splendid feather moss shows why it is called those names. Each moss branch is spread out full of small stems of feathery leaves, the overall effect looking a bit like an ostrich feather. The feathery branches cascade down the side of the tree stump they grow on, each one separate and spread out like steps. It looks like a carpet of glowing feathers.

1. Ein Schmetterling sitzt kopfüber an einem Stein. Der Körper und die Fühler sind dunkel. Die Flügel besitzen einen schwarzen Saum und ein von vorn nach hinten verlaufendes schwarzes Band in der Mitte. Dazwischen sind sie bis auf ein paar schwarze Adern transparent. Am hinteren Ende und an der Innenseite der Hinterflügel befindet sich ein leuchtend rotes Band, nach hinten gefolgt von einer Reihe weißer Tupfen. Die Hinterflügel besitzen zudem jeweils zwei schwarze schwanzartige Verlängerungen, die ganz am Ende weiß angehaucht sind.

Taking time to find something to capture, or think about where to go.
Thinking about the time of day, and if you want people or not.
Thinking about why you're even taking it at all, and what made you think to take it.
Then sometimes it's seeing a #leminalspace that's empty for like 25 minutes right until you want to take it, then a wave of the slowest moving human beings on Earth shows up, and you stand on a hill #writing for five minutes.
