I've gotten way too much done considering I'm on vacation:

Haven't missed a workout.
Deep-cleaned
Did the floors today
Did laundry
Cleaned the baseboards, specifically to get the rubber marks from the roomba off
Deleted five years of fb posts (slowly getting 99% of them gone)

Still two more days off to enjoy. :)

Better don't believe that Meta will always respect objections to their use of personal data for the training of their LLMs. Imho, even now, they're providing the opt-out mainly to check the temperature.

If the backlash isn't strong enough now, expect them to change their terms of service sooner or later, claiming all personal data on their platforms for their LLMs. They won't back down. And they certainly won't respect anyone's privacy!

Money did flow at first , as public entities provided matching funds, but #Zuggerfugger's #PaloAlto #SocialMefia #boardroom backed shills quietly cut and run, committing far less than a quarter of the publicly pledged total. The vast majority of money from Meta, a company lacking a corporate charitable arm, came back to their HQ, repaid as low 2% interest rate loans of up to $15m to developers, not actual donations.

5 years after the flurry of #publicity, the unfulfilled propaganda pipe dream went deferred, projects were few and far between, impacts largely lost and untold in a region still desperately in need of more affordable housing.

Was never in the #Facebook ecosystem, could see how poisoned it was from the beginning, as @pluralistic put it in his book "The Internet Con":

Also: AWS? I hope that's only a stepping stone, they are just as shitty as the others.

Mark Zuckerberg wants you to use AI as friends.

When you invest your time with AI instead of creating genuine bonds with real people, you become completely isolated without even noticing it.

This all serves capitalism and authoritarian regimes.

When you are isolated, you can't find humans to help you financially (AI won't).

When you are isolated, you can't find humans to rise up with you against abuse (AI won't).

You become completely alone (with AI friends), and completely vulnerable to manipulation and exploitation by the system implemented by those who control your AI "friends".

It seems obvious, I know. But how is Mark Zuckerberg able to market this insane idea at all then?

I think I’ve stopped using #Facebook hard enough (I still use it to visit Groups) that I’ve now fallen firmly into “generic user” category for ads.

And the majority of ads I receive are…guns and gun-related paraphernalia, Christian nationalist-adjacent jewelry, and pro-Trump-branded products.

Whenever I click on “why am I seeing this ad?” the only criteria they ever display is “18+ and living in the US”. So I guess that’s what most US Facebook customers see these days, by default.
