    yes, anubis is free software, but any program that runs under control of a remote server becomes nonfree software to the user operating the browser, when neither the website server nor the user's browser cooperate to grant the user control over the software. it would take a lot of infrastructure we don't have, and willingness from websites, to give users the control they deserve. so, with current available technology, it is nonfree software for me as installed on others' servers, and therefore I avoid it, and the sites become inaccessible to me unless there's some other way to get through. everyone should avoid that IMHO, but I can only govern my own behavior.

    when it comes to services that use authentication, I'd strongly recommend allowing unblocked access to the login page, and also unblocked access for authenticated users. hopefully that's not too hard to implement, and presumably authenticated users won't be abusing the server they rely on for legitimate purposes, and we don't throw the baby away along with the bath water.
