I don't understand that at all. He was a good person and a positive influence before I first heard of him (1976, during the campaign).

I think most older people in the US know this already. If they don't, they certainly should.

Mr Carter wasn't in the public eye as much as he got older, so maybe some younger people don't know it. I still remember being surprised to learn that Carter, a former US President, was nailing together houses for poor people with Habitat for Humanity ... something that to my knowledge, no other former President has done.
