@kaia Thanks to my grandfather/grandmother yes, in the Jura we traveled a lot in various workshops and we spent a few training days on various stuff every year, be it leather, horns (animals), metal foundries (mainly brass for cow bells/knifes), various lathes, cheese making, candles etc....
I have the basic skills to do it if I assemble the correct tools (a metal/wood lathe) and I already can assemble poor version wood one if I take the time. The only thing I didn't work is glass and rocks.
