It's actually clutches of Canadian Field Fish roe. The females lay the eggs one spring, the males fertilize them the next spring, and they hatch on the third. That's why they're affectionately nicknamed "Threenies." It's considered a delicacy up there and they make a version of sushi with them, using maple syrup in place of rice. They're in season this year, so grab em while you can!
