One thing that constantly surprises me when I engage in critique of different institutions is that when people who have been educated/trained within, by, or within said institutions see my critique, their response is just to repeat to me what they have been taught.
They act as if my negative statements prove that I must be unaware or uneducated about the matter at hand and they just regurgitate what they've been given, as if I wasn't given those same things in my education and that I am saying that's part of the problem!
It just shows me how few people, especially highly educated and intelligent people, are comfortable interrogating the assumptions they have learned. It's not often an easy or enjoyable process, so they just... don't do it. And then when I come by and tell them they ought to, they just spit out boilerplate they learned that says they don't have to! It's infuriating!
THINK FOR YOURSELF!!
