↯ Klaatu - Some Brave Apollo ↯@stsmith Photon in photon torpedoes really refers to the photon drive mechanism that propels them although making a parallel to current day submarines the tubes do accelerate the torpedo to some impulse speed before a small residual warp bubble kicks in to boost the photon drive to FTL speed. Faster and farther range than phasers who's damage is more like a lightsaber's. The actual explosive isn't photons but a selectable quantity of antimatter siphoned off of the ship's reserve tank.
