@jihadjimmy >Leah got memed to hell and back over that stupid shit and she made a release that is properly free recently.
Leah made a release that still installs the proprietary software, but adds an option to manually remove it after it's arguably too late.
After it was pointed out that such software didn't meet GNU's standards as at best it recommended proprietary software and hearing about GNUboot development, Leah decided to commit trademark infringement by calling a newly patched version of coreboot "GNU boot" without approval, although Leah renamed it to "non-GeNUine boot" after receiving a nice cease and detest email.
That patched release of coreboot was checked for proprietary software and further changes were made to make GNUboot.
>There's 1080p panels for sale on eBay for most Thinkpads that do not have FullHD screens
The GNUbootable thinkpads have 16:10 displays, so I'd be impressed if you could get a 16:9 display to work in them properly.
As far as I can tell, models like the R400 don't have enough LVDS channels for 1200p FPD-Link, so installing a 1920x1200 screen into such laptops would require either jerry-rigging power+VGA or soldering on a ribbon cable with enough channels.
On the T500 and W500 it's indeed the matter of finding a compatible screen and then bothering to install it (not too hard due to the decent design).
